What musical instrument do you play?

Post by Kreshna Aryaguna Nurzaman »

Well, what kind of instrument are you playing? And what songs do you like to play with it?

As for me, I'm playing electone. That is, the electronic organ popularized by Yamaha during early 80's.

That's me playing Moon River.

The Yamaha HE-4. Years have passed but she still sounds perfect.

(alright, I know I should have posted sample songs instead of pics, but the problem is I don't have the MIDI connector to record the play. Not to mention the server to store the .MID file.)

I've got minor training in both Piano and Snare Drum. Can't remember much about them, really, though I can still read music and am able to pluck out the basic theme to Jurrasic Park on a Keyboard (well, the important part at least...)

I used to play the violin, wasn't too bad at it, but I just haven't got the time here in college.

Piano when I was a kid. Now I just meddle with a Casio keyboard trying to get "Battle of the Heroes" right.

Started off learning drums and playing snare, bass and tenor drums in a Pipe Band here in sunny Scotland, which I did for a few seasons. I then got volunteered for an orchestral percussion course at high school, which taught me how to play a drum kit, amongst other things. From there I got sucked into playing in a couple of bands as drummer, where I quickly realised the drummer is first in, last out and has to have the biggest car. I also learned guitarists get all the kudos, so I started to learn guitar after that and switched to it exclusively a while back.

When I got a PC I dabbled in home recording, and that suprred me to buy a Juno-6 synthesiser and learn most of the basic piano chords, and while not exactly good, I can knock out a tune or two on the keyboards to this day. In between I've also subbed on bass guitar when needed, since it's a breeze if you can play a 6-string anyway.

In Summary, I play all of the following badly...

Guitar - Drums - Keyboards - Bass Guitar - Marimba/xylophone - various orchestral percussion instruments

Trumpet. My old roomates were also musicians so i got to fiddle with all sorts of latin percussion stuff... bongos, timbalis congas and that funky wooden fish thing that makes a kreeeek kreeek nose when you rub it with a stick. Hey Zaia, what the fuck do you call that thing? I never could do very much with the guitar, not that Brian let anyone touch his precious Les Paul anyway.

Guiro. :D

I'll list mine when I have a little more time. Don't want to forget any of 'em.

And I knew exactly what you meant, because some of my students refer to a guiro as "that ricky-ricky fish-thingamabob."

I'm re-learning to play the recorder. Nitram is suffering as I do so.

I can play the piano.

I used to play the clarinet, but it's been years.

I'm "torturing" my acoustic guitar from time to time. I do have a picture with me playing the guitar, but I have to dig it from my hard drive and put it online.

Why am I thinking this has been done before?

Either way... Guitar, Flute, Violin, some Keyboard, and I sing if that counts.

I play clarinet, and I can also play alto sax although I don't have one with me right now.

If you're counting the garage band thread, xBF, then yeah, we sort of are doing this already.

I was learning to play the bagpipes in junior high.

I'd like to learn how to play electric guitar, since I've heard that it's easier than learning to play accoustic, and frankly just plain cooler. :)

I used to play the string bass, the big-ass one. I was quite good too but I decided to drop it so I could enroll in the school's new computer course, much to the disappointment of my (insane) Orchestra teacher.

Sadly, that's probably the only thing I've played in...11 years. I haven't played either instrument in more than 6 years IIRC.

My first instrument was the piano, which I picked up when I was 9. Then came the electric guitar when I was 13. I started the Sax when I was 16. And my last one, by far my favorite to play, is the drums, which I picked up when I turned 19.

Same, except for the "used to" part. In fact, my pictures in the Member Pic thread are of me playing the bass during a gig.

Vocal chords and skin flute, currently.

Way back when, I used to be able to play the violin pretty well. Lost all that talent I'm sure....though I still have the violin, I could get that out and try a bit of dimmu borgir on it.

My primary instrument is Horn (playing it since 1995). But, I'm proficient at all the brasses, and mediocre at the woodwinds, percussion and piano.
