Creationist and clocks

Post by Wicked Pilot »

You show creationist a old analog clock that reads 12:30. You then show them a 30 minute old photo of a clock that read 12:00. They ask where are the transitional times between the two.

You then show them a 15 minute old photo of the clock reading 12:15. They ask where are the transitional times between 12:00 and 12:15 and 12:15 and 12:30.

You point out how just now the second hand has moved. They say it's merely 'microtime'.

A way to argue against the stupid "Well where are the transitional fossils?" argument I'm assuming.

He's referring to the creationist 'macro' and 'micro' evolution distortions of evolutionary theory.

As well as the moronic false dilemma between 'microevolution' and 'macroeveolution'.

And if Americans are descended from Europeans, then why are there still Europeans? :P

That's pretty good. It's a lot better than my analogy about "it's like saying you can save up pennies to get a fifty-cent piece, but you can't save up fifty-cent pieces to get $100".

Well I'm glad you all caught the joke. It seems pretty absurd that people argue like that, but then again creationism is absurd.

I like the one with the micro-erosion and macro-erosion, but this one makes them look stupider. :P

Another good one I heard:

An evolutionist says 2+2=4
A creationist says 2+2=8
An ID proponent says 2+2=6
The school board says teach the controversy.

Careful to break the link, to avoid an invasion.

And WP, those are great. I had considered using the growth of a tree as an example myself, (microgrowth and macrogrowth) but this one works better, methinks.

Also, ask if they beleive in an evolutionary reset button of some kind, that prevents the so-called "microevolutions" from accumulating.
