"Practicing to be a Dictator" (pic heavy)

Post by Avalon616 »

As an aspiring photographer, I've assembled a few shots from a recent photoshoot I did of Enforcer Talen. He, being a narcissistic camwhore, thoroughly enjoyed the session. I took 62 shots in all, so these are just a taste. A few I shopped a bit, for fun. The whole set will be assembled, and called, "Practicing to be a Dictator."

Feel free to give him tons of compliments on how pretty he is, and me tons of compliments on how artistic I am. [/dig for flattery]

EDIT: double of one pic

I really like that second to last picture. How did you get the sky to look like that, did you do something to the image on your computer.

Yeah, she photoshopped it. Looks like either a photonegative or a composite from another source.

Oh yeah, that one's wicked fake, I only did it cause Talen was like, "Ooh, make me look mean!" It took me about 5 min, used a random sky shot then just played with the saturation and color balance, nothing fancy. It's so obviously not well done, I just laugh at it. It's cute though.

I do believe you've succeeded on all counts. Impressive, especially the B+Ws.

I think he could pass off as some sort of Communist revolutionary. You should photoshop some military hats and badges and arm bands and whatnot onto him. :D

The sky one is awesome. He looks like a dictator on a high balcony getting ready to address the masses. :)

Yeah, the whole dictator theme came from these shots:

Some of the color ones came out really too dark though. :(

Excellent shots! Both his pose and your angles work perfectly together.
Just one little note, perhaps the shots could have a grander effect if made somewhere else besides a children's playground.

I think some of the shots could've had slightly more contrast, like

vs

(I'll remove this from my Imageshack account ASAP! No worries, I won't leave it there!)

But this is just my personal opinion. :) Poses were very good and epic.

Yeah, for the black and whites, I just left them alone. I was being lazy. When they translated online, they lost some of their quality- the 35mm film looks so much better. I got one of those kodak pic CDs for the first time ever, so I'm still experimenting with how that works. But yes, I agree, the tweaked contrast looks good.

I could be wrong but I thought ties were meant to go to the belt level. I think he looks fine and those are some really awesome photo's Avalon!

I think he looks somewhat like a young and not fat Göran Persson (Swedish Prime minister) with a leather jacket. Which is funny because certain people seems to think he actually is a dictator.

Cool pictures, anyhow! I especially like the one where he's looking at the ball. It's like he wants to play with it, but can't because of his dictatorial responsibilities and that makes him sad... Or maybe he's thinking about all the children he had to murder in order to become the dictator...

You prop them up in third world countries? Zing.

Talen you look awesome in that jacket and gloves, but isn't your head cold? I mean, I know you're a marine and all that, but... well, isn't it chilly? You look badass too, like any minute you're expecting a call from some Don about a hit. But the flower thing gives the whole 'sensitive' vibe as well.

Nice photos Avalon. I used to do photography, until I realised I sucked at it. You rock. I love black and white pics. I like the one which is b/w except for Talen's tie, which is only slightly red. How did you do it? Photoshop, or did it come from actually developing the film in a certain way?

Shit, why didn't I think about that? Aside from the glasses he'd be a dead ringer.
