WMD Page Update

Post by Lord Poe »

Mucho updatos:

http://www.mrpoesmorgue.com/usvsd/wmd/wmd.html

Lots of stuff added: Slave 1's seismic charges against 'roids, "Pegasus" 'roid, "Cost of Living" 'roid, lasers vs phasers updated, ranges updated, "Skin of Evil" added, lots of new pictures, etc. I'll be adding the Rise 'roid later, as well as BDZ, and the Omega particle. Oh, and the Death Star!

This should put end to dout of Seismic charges being Gt-level weapons.

Another great update, Lord Poe! Brian Young's calculations shows the consideration Dr. Saxton put into the statistics in the AOTC:ICS. Very interesting stuff...

One picture doesn't show up. The filename is drilling3.jpg.

Some good stuff Poe. Especially since a few of the "arguements" I've seen being used lately are addressed here very nicely.

I like the section on the "No Laser" argument, but personally I think what it could do with is a good old-fashioned analogy. Something like this perhaps:
If someone tried to attack an M1A2 Abrams tank by throwing small rocks at it, the tank's commander would probably laugh and say that "Rocks can't hurt us". Does that mean that no rocky object can cause any damage to an M1A2 Abrams? That you'd happily drive one into a lava flow, or sit in one while a 1KM asteroid smacked into it at supersonic speeds?

Nice. The 'Trekkie' picture just feels right too.

Its that same as bullets can't hurt the tank. Does that mean a bullet no matter what size can't hurt the tank.

Or a Civil War Cannon can't penatrate the frontal armor of the tank does that mean no cannon based weapon can't hurt the tank?

It's very good and I'm still reading it. I would say more, but I'm injured and have problems doing anything, including typing.

One stupid Trekkie analogy I've seen on a pro-Trek VS. website is that the laser argument is like ships of glass versus ships that shoot acid and that Wars argues that they can overcome Trek because they put out insane amounts of acid. But what Trekkies forget is first Turbolasers aren't the only weapon in the Wars arsenal, second even glass isn't totally invulnerable to acid in fact there are some acids that can corrode glass such as Hydrofluoric Acid, and third lasers aren't acid and shields aren't glass.

Fine. I accept these [sarcasm]oh-so realistic[/sarcasm] estimates of firepower for SW Turbolasers.

I also accept the fallacy of Hypermatter to power this BS-derived tech. Nevermind that hypermatter DOES NOT EXIST. Antimatter does. It just bugs me when the sort of fuel you can pump through a hose and has even spilled has a higher energy density per-gram than anti-matter, the most energy-dense (in terms of PE) substance known

Here's the question: Where do those ships hold all their fuel?
Venator's reactor annihilates up to 40,000 tons of fuel per second
That is a heck of a lot of mass!

Star Trek V didn't destroy anything. If you want to give that title to something in Star Trek, give it to Enterprise. Destroyed the franchise.

You have no choice, actually. I'll accept your concession that you have no argument to put forth, and instead want to troll, shit stain.
I also accept the fallacy of Hypermatter to power
How is hypermatter a "fallacy"? Do you know what the fuck "fallacy" even means, twat?
Nevermind that hypermatter DOES NOT EXIST. Antimatter does.

Yeah, I'm sure you have an antimatter vibrator stuck up your ass to keep your head company...

How can he think the annihilation of such masses is ridiculous? It's necessary to provide the power for the feats we see them performing! It'd be a poor scifi franchise indeed that claimed, at the same time, to be doing huge amazing things, and at the same time consuming small amounts of fuel.

Who said hypermatter had higher energy density per gram than M/AM? All hypermatter needs is greater MASS density than standard matter.

Wayne:
The asteroid in the scene obviously much bigger. We know it's larger than the Millennium Falcon, too, because if you look at the left-hand corner of the above animated gif, there is a Falcon-sized asteroid behind the big one that gets caught by the seismic wave.
Err, how do you know it is Falcon sized?

It's a great page. Highly informative. If we find weird typos, do you want us to tell you? Not that it matters.

As for photon toroedoes, check out the analysis of the TNG episode, "The Wounded".

that was one on the page where the star destroyer was orbiting hoth. It was in the paragraph right above it.
