Err....What is it?
Ummm, I'm gonna assume that you don't recognize it because it is made of Legos. If that is not the case, I would have to give you a "THWAPP" ( a gentle one) across the head.

This reminds me that there is now a Lego store that opened up in a nearby mall ( Valley Fair for you guys in the Bay Area who didn't know already). If it weren't for the fact that I just spent $600 dollars on paintball stuff these past two months, I would have probably bought the Star Destroyer.

Actually it's because she's one of the (at last count) 37 people on the planet to NOT have seen the movies so chances are she hasn't seen the trailer or any screenshots of ROTS, either.
Mysterious as it may be there are apparently people who don't care about Star Wars all that much.
Even mysteriouser, some of them nevertheless wound up at sd.net.

Okay, less spam, more Lego Venator!

Is it me or does the Venator's and Acclamator's bow sections look somewhat like the Sith Infiltrator's bow? Perhaps the SI was inspiration for both the TIE and the ISD...

Venator is a type of ship in the new Star Wars. It's the grand-pappy of the lovable cheese wedges of the original movies.

Actualy the Venerator is an excelent design. What people fail to remember is that the Victory came about from the same time period. The Venerator is the carrier (more like Strike Carrier bassed on its protective armament) while the Victory is the warship. The Venerator carries more then 400 fighters, and that is a LOT. A Venerator with modern fighters can actualy destroy an ISD provided it stays out of the ISDs weapon range.

The Venator is mediocre design at best; she's underprotected where she doesn't half to be - structurally weak and vulnerable dorsal flight deck, vulnerable brim docking ports, unneccessarily exposed engines, gun batteries constrained to the broadside. The Venator cannot even concentrate half of her guns without turning to broadside which reveals unprotected engines and those stupid docking ports. And there's simply no excuse for compromising structural integrity and adding hull vulnerabilities for flight operations on both the dorsal and ventral faces. If they were going to add a flight deck, it ought to have just been an extension of the ventral bay.

Do you mean in real life or in the fictional world?

Because for real life, I would assume that it would be most likely a coincidence, although to me neither of the three hull shapes really resemble each other that much.

In the fictional world, I would say it's a definate no. Besides the fact that the Infiltrator is made by a different company than the Acclimator and Venator (and not to mention that it's a fighter-sized craft and the other two are capital ships), that's not really how design lineage works.

The Venerator is not intended as a primary heavy fighter, so much of what your describing is completely irrelevent. We already know the Victory is of the same era and numerous enough it survived well into post Endor. One is a carrier, one is a main line warship.

Daaaaaamn...how many hours does it take to make one of those?

PS: Someone already reminded you guys to stop spamming, but it's getting rather tiresome to find the same handful of people doing it all over the board. QUIT IT. It's within my power to delete spammy posts, but I shouldn't have to do that. Restrain yourselves.

I would say it took a professional team days from design to completion. Lego has master builders who construct cool shit like this for displays, Legoland, etc. You'd be hard pressed to find an amatuer who could accomplish such a feat. You'd be hard pressed to find one with just the parts.

My dream job as a kid was to be the person who put all the Lego displays together for stores like FAO Schwartz. I would picture myself in a room for hundreds of hours, painstakingly putting a giant castle or plane together. I don't think it occured to me that, in the interest of efficiency, they'd have more than one person at a time working on those models. :D

Nope. You planning on it? :D

How many sets of engines do you guys get?

I'm seeing five. I think that's another engine wedged in between the three large ones.
