If he's going to add to Endor, I want him to show the Rebel Commandos actually doing something besides get shot, do judo throws or take cover.VT-16 wrote:I read that. If it´s true, I´m actually disappointed. He could at least add more walkers and fighters to Hoth and Endor.
That, and maybe making obvious ship additions to the Rebel Fleet. I would love to actually see the Rebel fleet concentrate fire on Executor before we see the fighters make their torpedo run on the globe.
And kill Jedi Rocks. God I hate that piece of shit.
Yeah, I prefer the original song in Jabba's Palace.
The Battle of Endor is just asking for it, really. Add more ships, but add new ships- they had heaps of concept designs for Mon Calamari warships, but they ran out of time (and money?) to build them. So they had the "Headquarters Frigate" aka "Home One" model, they had the "Pearly Wingless"- and then, after they finished shooting the Pearly Wingless, they added wings to it, changed the color, and voila, you had the Liberty type.
Put the B-Wings back in as actually doing something, it should be possible now with CGI. Show the big ships slugging it out. Show Executor actually do some damn damage, smashing aside cruiser after cruiser. There's zero dramatic "wow" in killing a ship that wasn't seen to be doing much anyway.

I think just lengthening the Battle of Endor by a few minutes would be cool. It has to be consistent, though. Personally, I'd want it consistent with how it is now, because I think the current battle footage is simply beautiful; it looks great and it very nicely conveys the emotions it wants to convey. At one scene it's an epic battle of the snubfighters with the Rebels holding their own, the next it's a desperate knife-fight between the two fleets...
It can't simply be CGI for the sake of CGI; it has to work, damnit. If we could get even more footage that worked, and ratcheted up the tension beyond what it does now... that would be a revision worth making.

What about doing a 'ANH SE' and redoing the battle of endor with CGI, keeping the same shots, the same scenes, but adding extras?
And dammit, i want my commandos. Show a rebel sniper in the bushes make head shots on stormies, then get blasted by an AT-ST (yeah I know, SPR refrence - fuck, Lucas and Spielberg are friends anyway, i doubt he'd mind). And I want the teddy bears with blasters and using them.

Because that's fucking stupid, and THEY ALREADY DID THAT. For fuck's sake.VT-16 wrote:Why? Most shots look as good as the ANH SE battle already. Just add more fighters and laserbolts to existing scenes, redoing the battle of endor with CGI
The ROTJ SE battle of endor IS different to the OT version. There are more MonCals and ships inserted into it. The trouble is, they're in the fucking background and hard to pick up.
So this whole "Just add ships" response is bizarre. If you're going to change the Battle of Endor, go all out. Why not? Do you think Lucas is losing money or some shit? The Battle of Endor is fine anyway. But if you're going to 'rerelease' the film, then do what ANH SE did and ESB SE - Cloud City did. If you're going to add new scenes, then do it COMPLETELY.
What a bunch of bullshit, it´s the job of SFX makes to do as good a job as possible. I´m sure most old-time ILMers are happy to see their old scenes updated and enhanced. You have to admit, the dynamics of the new Yavin-scenes are far superior to the old, static shots. Not to mention that it would be a gross diservice to those who worked on RotJ in the first place.
So? The SE is ALREADY a 'gross disservice' to those who worked on the originals. Like the original Battle of Yavin, which pioneered special effects. I don't hear anyone moaning about that.
Yeah, at the very end, when they´re leaving the battle! *Snort*Because that's fucking stupid, and THEY ALREADY DID THAT. For fuck's sake.
And I´m not against new battle shots, I just want the old ones enhanced to give a more 'epic' feeling.
No, you're full of shit dickhead. Spanky mentioned it being a 'gross disservice' if they did the same thing to Endor what they did at Yavin.VT-16 wrote:What a bunch of bullshit, it´s the job of SFX makes to do as good a job as possible. So? I'm sure this has fuck all to do with the fucking point.I´m sure most old-time ILMers are happy to see their old scenes updated and enhanced.
Of COURSE they are! So if Yavin can be improved, then so can ENDOR.You have to admit, the dynamics of the new Yavin-scenes are far superior to the old, static shots.
Do you HAVE the originals and the SE? Check them out, frame by frame. MonCals were added to the back drop of Endor as the MF is flying toward the camera. They're just tiny and in the background. They weren't there in the ORIGINAL release. I have the VHS tapes of both, so I can see it with my own eyes. I just can't capture them to prove it. But if you've got it then you can confirm it for yourself.Yeah, at the very end, when they´re leaving the battle! *Snort*Because that's fucking stupid, and THEY ALREADY DID THAT. For fuck's sake.

Whoops, got your reply mixed in there. Shithead. No, you're full of shit dickhead. Spanky mentioned it being a 'gross disservice' if they did the same thing to Endor what they did at Yavin.
More epic then. Actually, I don´t think we´re arguing anything, since we seem to want the same stuff. I just want more done to shots already in place, but sure, additional scenes would be fine. There already IS an epic feeling.
It happens. Don't sweat it.VT-16 wrote:Whoops, got your reply mixed in there. Shithead. No, you're full of shit dickhead. Spanky mentioned it being a 'gross disservice' if they did the same thing to Endor what they did at Yavin.
Yeah, I think we're arguing over nothing. To be fair, I've been on a short fuse in the last couple of days.More epic then. Actually, I don´t think we´re arguing anything, since we seem to want the same stuff. I just want more done to shots already in place, but sure, additional scenes would be fine.
