I can't remember plot, but you could put spoiler warning.

Short version: Lost Jedi must find out why Jedi are dying and a new Sith encroachment.

Long Spoiler: You are a Jedi who has lost his connection to the Force due to an event in your past that pretty much fucked with your connection. 10 years from the end of the Mandalorian wars you come back to the known galaxy only to find the Jedi all but extinct and the Sith going apeshit. With a curmudgeon and cranky bitch(Kriea) you travel to hot spots seeing if you'll build up the Sith or Republic. Along the way you meet some wannabe Sith Lords and find out where Revan went.

I can go into more detail and likely many others, just what specifically you're wondering. The whole is much longer and involves some odd explainations of details.

Spoilers up the ass

Revan brought the war to a close, for good or ill. The Republic is on the brink of collapse, or rather, can be shattered by disruptions of activies on just a few critical worlds. Chief among these is Telos and its restoration effort after being glassed by Malak.

Enter the PC - The Exile, named so because of exile from the Jedi Order after choosing to follow Revan into the war against the Mandalorians. Years later, events have transpired to bring the Exile back into the fold during this critical time for the Republic. Exile wakes up on a derelict mining station - everyone is dead, except for an old hag of a Jedi named Kreia, T3-M4, an HK-series assassin droid, and a scoundrel named Atton.

Kreia acts as a mentor for the Exile, reawakening long dormant Force sensitivity - actually the result of wartime morality (i.e., nuke billions of innocents to save trillions in the long run). The Exile was apparantly the ranking officer at the annihilation of Malachor V, the action that ended the Mandalorian Wars. This caused a Force "black hole" in the Exile, in a manner similar to... who was it? Nomi Sunrider? I don't remember. Anyways, over time the Exile regains Force abilities with the help of Kreia and Jedi Masters Vrook, Zez Kai-Ell, and another whose name escapes me at the moment (Light Side storyline, anyways. Dark Side simply kills them).

Now, everything else is much harder to decipher. The shoddy, rushed final fourth of the game is such a massive mess that it's nigh-impossible to work out what's really going on. What I've pieced together:
  • One Darth Nihilus is some kind of uber dark mirror to the Exile, a Force void, but all Sith-y and such, consumes whole worlds on a whim, etc. Zero characterization, impossible to determine much more.
  • Another Sith Lord is apparantly indestructible through some Sith magickry.
  • A third Sith Lord, Darth Treya, better known as Kreia, completes this trinity of Sith (fuck if I know what's going on). Kreia was apparantly ousted, and for some reason wants to destroy the Force itself by using the Exile. She's manipulated all these events into being, Palpatine-style.
  • After stopping Nihilus's ZombieShip and his plot to annihilate Telos (no, there's no explanation for this), the Exile must go to Malachor V and confront Kreia. Ebon Hawk and crew mysteriously vanish with no trace of ever having existed. Exile defeats Kreia, Force is saved. Yay!
Finally, the Exile runs off into the Unknown Regions to follow Revan, who also ran off, apparantly to fight "The True Sith."

Enjoy.

Spoilers, I guess; Honestly I don't think the story makes much sense;

The 'Exile' of the Mandalorian Wars returns to known space. Once a Jedi Knight, the Exile was.... well exiled from the Order by the Council for disobaying the Council and going to war with Revan.

The Exile didn't continue with Revan after the war and thus was not part of the Jedi Civil War (KOTOR I). He has returned to know space and the remenents of the Sith wish to destroy him. The last bits and pieces of the Sith from the Academy have spent years quitely killing off the Jedi, who have themselves been retreating after the Jedi Civil War.

As you are traveling on a Republic Cruiser, you are attacked by the Sith. A crazy woman helps defend you and you both awaken on a remote mining station.

Pretty much, you spend the game figuring out what happened while you were gone from the Republic and learn that the Jedi dwindled since the Civil War and that the small bits that remain of the Sith are determined to kill you and all Jedi.

One Sith in particular seems intend on gobbling up all the Force and his/her once master is the crazy old lady with you. Kreia, the crazy chick, starts tutoring you in the Force. Since you were exiled, you believed that the Jedi have 'kept you from the Force' but that proves to be false.

It seems that the final battle of the Mandalorian Wars was on Melechor V and somehow you destroyed the planet and all on it and it opened some sort of rift in the Force. The Sith gobbler who wishes to gobble up all the Force wants to know how you did it and to gobble you up too. Kreia who hates the Force now, atleast in spite, wants to end the Force and see's you as a chance to do that very thing by opening a bigger rift in the Force.

Cue end of game.

At the end of the game, you learn that Revan left known space after KOTOR I to fight against the real Sith Empire that he appernently found and used to become a Sith Lord at before KOTOR I. At the end of the game, you the exile go in search of him for your own ends.

But as far as board culture in general, I do think that young male overaggression is a contributing factor to the general atmosphere of hostility. It's not SOS and the Mess throwing hand grenades all over the forum- Red

No.

Jedi Masters Atris (who it is later revealed fell to the Dark Side), Zez Kai-Ell, Vrook, and another are still running around just fine. Vash was as well, but is dead when you find her on Korriban.

Not really since you were exiled from the Order years ago. But you are one of the few 'Force users' left around, which makes you a big target.

No, there are four others who survived who are killed later, and each of your companions except the droids have Force potential and become the Next Jedi.

Wasn't it implied that there were other Force users out there, but it was only the masters you were interested in locating?

Yeah something like that. Many Jedi just left the order. But I believed it was implied somwhere in the game that even they too were hunted down by the Sith assasins.

Yeah, but those Sith Assassins were worse than useless. I think the Sith just hired illegal aliens on the cheap, rather than pay the minimum wage for decently competent hatchetmen.

I should point out that there is an explanation for this bit (sorta). On Onderon, if you support Talia, Kreia heals Colonel Tobin after he gets trodden on by the Sith beast, tells him that the Jedi have an Academy hidden on Telos, and sends him off to tell his master, who turns out to be Darth Nihilus. Nihilus hears his report and heads off to eat Telos, and is duly bitchslapped by the Exile. Of course, if you support Vaklu, the whole thing is left completely unexplained.

Yeah, it would have been nice if what Kreia said early on was true, and they did actually get stronger when there were Force-sensitives about - sadly, this doesn't happen, and they remain a joke throughout the entire game. Frankly, if the Jedi were exterminated by such pathetic foes, then they deserved to die.

Hanharr and Mandalore can't become Jedi either IIRC.

Myself I found KOTOR 2 more cloudy than the first one .... while KOTOR had the sides pretty much separated, KOTOR 2 made a blur of everything. On a hand this increased the tension, but on the other hand, as other pointed out, one could loss touch with the epic thread.
