Really the only thing to Debate is the true strength of the Mk-IIs TurboLasers.
Christ, its refreshing to meet people who haven't had their brains destroyed by WEG sourcebooks. :)

ISD-I has more extensive hull plating, though. But enough of my hijack!
Thank you, though personally, just to extend the Hijack a Tiny bit.. .I have always been curious why the original modle makers went from a Dual turret, to an gun EIGHT turret that sarted all this in the first place.

I was wondering what the stats were on all of these ships. Shield Ratings, number of weapons(lasers, turbolasers, Ion cannon, torpedos, etc) Acceleration, etc. Does anybody know?

ISD loses to the vong ships and to Home One, Mc80a is a tossup it has better defence then the ISD but lacks the firepower and support craft, plus Mc80s are converted liners not warships from the keel up. I put my money on the ISD. Victory is a kill no problem smaller less firepower weaker shields fewer fighters slower engines. The ISD flys rings around it and destroys it easily. Venator a fairly close bout with the victory going to the ISD because of sheer size and firepower, of course the ISD will have no fighters when the battle is over. Carrak light cruiser is a piece of cake it has insignificant firepower and its acceleration is only slightly faster then that of an ISD if it is faster. TF ship is dead no chance the ISD may not even get hit. The acceleration on that thing is rated at 300gs by the new esential guide to vehicles and vessels, so the ISD can litterally go any where it wants and attack from any direction the captain wants and all the feds can do is take the hits. I have no idea of the abilitys of the CIS ships, but they are old so I would expect them to die quickly.

Don't be so fast to disregard the older ships... this analogy may be applicable. If you've got a sword, forged from modern carbon steel, and I've got a spear with a stone tip, and I toss that spear at you and you don't get out of the way in time, who wins? You get the idea.

But I am wearing the interceptor bullet proof armor(protects agains 9mm, 7.62mm and 5.56mm rounds) you are wearing chainmail...who wins?

Yes that one frigate with the Uber cannons will probably win if it hits the ISD, but if it does not hit then it dies.

I think you miss the analogy. Even though the older ships may be a bit less powerful, in the right hands they're quite capable of defeating the ISD. Or do you think they're just gonna park, 20 yards apart, and blast at each other till one or the other falls apart?

EDIT: And, incidentally, most modern Kevlar doesn't really stand up that well against blade weapons... while chain mail was made to withstand blades... :P

chain mail gets your arms broke. No they would not just sit there, but the advantage would then go to the ISD not the Clone wars ships. An ISD can go as fast as the Falcon while the Vic is so slow that most ships have no problem out running them, and the vic was considered adaquet for the day.

Oy, time to defend the TF BB again.

Peak power for the ISD should be ~10^25 watts, more likely in the high 10^24 range.

The coreship alone had an undersized 3*10^24 watt reactor, about as much as the Venator can do at peak power. And we see other subsidiary reactors in the wings in the movies, which judging by the size of the surroundings, are larger. So the whole BB model should have a peak power higher then that of an Imperator. And lets just say I have good reason to think that that will eventually be shown the case.

Second, weapons: The gun counts published in the TPM ICS are wrong. No fault of Dr Reynolds, the ships were probably altered after he wrote that. They always make late changes (EG sparks on Jango's jet pack, channging the paint job of Nantex fighters). I did an intense gun count, I found a minimum of 18 turrets left off, and since some fire comes from the bottom of the ship, possibly 24 more on top of that. And none of the light guns mentioned in the novel have ever been counted. This menas the TF BB has atleast 240 HTLs, possibly 336. And since they are mounted by the engines and droid powr conduits, they have good power feeds to them, meaning they prtobably have a yield of 1 TT as well (Invisible Hand has the same model of guns and that is their yield). Then you have the tiny guns on the coreship. Not much, but good against fighters. The main guns actually provide a pretty good amount of coverage actually, most angles they can bring at least 12 turrets against you, which is a lot of pain.

Shields, remember again that the coreship alone is in the destroyer range for power and shielding. The total ship is in cruiser range, albeit the light end. Expect shielding in the 10^25-10^26 range for dissipation rate. Well enough that one Imperator isn't going to bag one.

Actually, an interceptor vest will do fairly well against blades. Maybe it isn't proof, but it would take a pretty hard jab to penetrate it with a knife. The older flak vest (which we used before the Interceptor) has been proven incapable of stopping a knife. Some people have bet their lives they would stop a knife in some stupid game and lost.
Also the interceptor vest itself is only proof against 9mm. Thick, heavy ceramic plates are inserted into pockets in the vest to stop the 5.56 and 7.62 rounds (I don't know if you already know this, but I thought I'd clarify anyway). A friend of mine was killed in Iraq by a sniper while wearing his vest, but not the plates. Sadly, no armor provides complete protection.

As far as the older ships facing off against the Star Destroyer, I would expect that you can never be too careful. They can easily be retrofitted with torpedo tubes (as well you should expect this to happen, for a starship is a hell of an investment, especially something like a Venator or Victory, and rather than scrapping a perfectly good fighting ship, a navy would most likely much rather retrofit the existing ship to keep it in the fight, missiles, or in this case, torpedoes, are the best way I can think of to achieve this end).
I'm not going to place any bets just yet, but the wise captain would be mindful of such things and refrain from being overconfident, like the poor fool who thought his old flak vest would stop a knife, and found out in the final moments of his life that was not the case.
