Very Simple, NO Spoilers Wanted, Question about ROTS
Simply put, do spoilers indicate if it will be better or worse than AOTC? All I want are opinions, not "Yeah, because they reveal Palpatine banged Shimi and he's Vader's daddy." Thank you, you may begin.

It's all pretty subjective, of course. After all, I thought that the trailers for TPM indicated that the movie would be fantastic. Ditto for AotC. Needless to say, with the benefit of hindsight, I'm a little disappointed.
Nevertheless, from what I've seen (and I've seen quite a bit), RotS looks like the best of the prequels.

Good point... I mean I'm not a spoiler guy (but even if I were I'd admit that), reading what happens and seeing it happen on screen are two different things. What looks like an awesome scene on paper might fall flat, or good dialouge could be delivered badly. Or something that appears boring on screen may end up looking awesome.
And behind the scenes stuff can change in post production, so it's really anyone's guess.
I have a question for the spoiler indulgent though... if you did the same thing for TPM and AOTC, did it raise or lower your expectations for those films when you actually saw them? And did you end up disappointed more than if you hadn't seen the spoilers or not? I'm just curious...

I took different spoiler policies into my countdowns to TPM and AotC. For TPM, I saw everything, up to and including reading the comic book before I saw the film. For AotC, I jealously guarded myself against hearing more than a whisper of what was coming. And while I was still overwhelmed by the fanboyish "oh my god I've been waiting forever for this" feelings while actually watching the movies, in the light of reason I still felt disappointed, in both cases. Is it possible that I set myself up for disappointment? that any films, no matter how excellent, would have been found wanting? It's possible. I also think that there's room for improvement in what we actually saw.
As I've said numerous times, though, I'm willing to give George the benefit of the doubt until I've digested all six parts. Only then can I pass my judgement.

Yes. Simple answer.StarshipTitanic wrote:Simply put, do spoilers indicate if it will be better or worse than AOTC?
AOTC wasn't bad, it was better than TPM. ROTS looks to be better than both.

All of the spoilers and leaks that I've had access to, including a massive amount of footage and reading the script itself, indicates that the film is leagues above the first two, and simply amazing at parts.
Regarding current critical response, the film is getting mostly positive to rave reviews from all over.
Rotten Tomatoes currently has thirteen reviews tallied, eleven of them positive and only two negative, and a freshness rating of 85%. MF.com currently tracks sixteen positive reviews versus three negative ones (about 84%). Bill Hunt of The Digital Bits gave the film a B+, ranking it third out of the six behind ESB and ANH.
EDIT: RT is now at 14/2 positive, making 88%.

I believe in a sign of Zeta.
