Luke knew to escape because he knew what the plan was against the station. Luke got away just barely in time, and he had only half the distance to cover to get to the shuttles. Unless the Emperor and Vader decide to make a run imediately after Luke is fried, I don't see them making it to the hanger deck quickly enough.Illuminatus Primus wrote:And Luke had an open comlink channel to it? And you don't think Palpatine knew why Skywalker and his fleet had come? It would've been a trivial matter to check on the status of the battle after killing Luke, or simply felt it through the Force. As for why the escape pods weren't used - I'm sorry Alyeska but you can't just wave off something like that. They probably were code-keyed for the Emperor's use only. You reconcile before dismissal. I know everyone here likes to point out some mitigating circumstance, not attempt reconcilation, and just ignore it thereafter, but I'll be here to remind you that's total bullshit.
