I don't love all the blatant Conservatism being thrown around there. I watch it every now and then, but it seems to me that (esp. after 9/11) they are always trying to stir something up with the American People like they are trying spew some sort of propaganda to the masses. It's really disgusting, but hey, I watch it. :D

Charlton Heston announced he had Alzheimer's, and Fox News Channel declared it some sort of News Alert and spent FIFTEEN MINUTES reporting on it, complete with actual EXPERTS.

A couple of months ago, they were covering a protest. I can't remember where it was or what it was about right now. The reporter said that the police began arresting people after the protesters started throwing rocks. One of the protesters started saying that they started with the rock throwing after the police began their arrests. A bit later some guy held up a sign saying something about condoms. Then (this is the good part) one of the protesters said this: "Can I be interviewed? Can I be interviewed for the Fox News Channel? (sarcasm) Fair and balanced news."

Fox News is as conservatively biased as you can get without admitting it.

It's owned by conservatives (Ailes and Murdoch). They had a relative of Bush working for them during the elections. Tony Snow, Cavuto, O Reailly, Vester, the idiots on fox and friends, Hume, Hannity, and just about everyone is blatantly conservative. The only "liberal" they have on is Colmes, who's obviously there to be out yelled, outnumbered, and take the blows.

I AGREE WITH YOU. Fox news is blatantly biased towards the conservatives...however the rest of the news organizations out there are just as blatantly biased towards the liberals (see also Donahue and MSNBC).

They're cancelling Donahue's show. Oops! Furthermore, Donahue allowed idiots such as the author of Bias on his show, and doesn't pull the Hannity bullshit of interrupting and red herrings.

Conservative pundits in the media: Pat Buchanan, Fred Barnes, John McLaughlin, David Gergen, Robert Novak, William F. Buckley, Jr., George Will, William Safire, Cal Thomas, Jonathon Alter, Joe Klein, Robert J. Samuelson, James Kilpatrick, Rush Limbaugh, and hundreds of other conservative radio talk-show hosts.

Centrists (self-described): Sam Donaldson, Mark Shields, Michael Kinsley, Morton Kondrake, Al Hunt, Jack Germond, Hodding Carter.

Progressive pundits: Jim Hightower (cancelled), Barbara Eirenreich, Molly Ivins.

So, right off the bat we see that there are more conservative pundits in the media than liberal ones.

- The media is owned by an ever decreasing number of businesses through mergers. These businesses are conservative in their very nature.

- Talk Radio is completely conservative.

- Reagan killed the fairness doctrine, which allowed the media to be bought up.

- GOP strategist William Kristol admits calling the media liberal was a tactic:

"I admit it: the liberal media were never that powerful, and the whole thing was often used as an excuse by conservatives for conservative failures."

- Pat Buchanan admits there's no liberal media:

"The truth is, I've gotten fairer, more comprehensive coverage of my ideas than I ever imagined I would receive." He further conceded: "I've gotten balanced coverage and broad coverage -- all we could have asked… For heaven sakes, we kid about the liberal media, but every Republican on earth does that."

- Adam Myerson, editor of the conservative Heritage Foundation's Policy Review, admits a conservative bias :

"[Pundit] journalism today is very different from what it was 10 to 20 years ago. Today, op-ed pages are dominated by conservatives… We have a tremendous amount of conservative opinion, but this creates a problem for those who are interested in a career in journalism after college… If Bill Buckley were to come out of Yale today, nobody would pay much attention to him. He would not be that unusual… because there are probably hundreds of people with those ideas [and] they have already got syndicated columns."

So, some prominent conservatives even admit that either there is no liberal bias or there is actually a conservative bias.

- New polls show the majority of journalists are centrists. And of those who are not centrists, there are more conservatives than liberals on economic issues.

The following study was conducted by David Croteau of Virginia Commonwealth University. (24) He targeted Washington bureau chiefs and Washington-based journalists who cover national politics and/or economic policy. His questionnaires went to 78 national news organizations, with an emphasis on the following 14:

1. ABC News /ABC Radio
2. Associated Press /AP Broadcast News
3. Bloomberg News
4. CNN
5. Knight-Ridder Newspapers/Tribune Information Services
6. Los Angeles Times
7. NBC News
8. New York Times
9. Reuters America, Inc.
10. Time
11. USA Today/USA Weekend
12. Wall Street Journal
13. Washington Post
14. Washington Times

The 141 journalists and bureau chiefs who responded were an excellent cross-section of the target group as a whole. When their positions on political issues were tallied up, this was the result:

Q#22. On social issues, how would you characterize your political orientation? Q#23. On economic issues, how would you characterize your political orientation?

Social - Economic
Left 30% Left 11%
Center 57% Center 64%
Right 9% Right 19%
Other 5% Other 5%

So we know that, of those that responded, most journalists are economically conservative.

20/20 censored part of their interview with Gore. In the cut part, Gore discussed how, during the elections, the christian right harrassed his family at his own home.

- The Washington Times started the urban legend about Gore saying he invented the internet, among other lies the Times propagated. The Times is owned by a cult leader that propped up Falwel and Robertson and funds Bush. He also funded Reagan back in the day. www.unification.net is his official website.

- A late January 2002 quote from Coulter's address to CPAC (the Conservative Political Action Conference).

"When contemplating college liberals, you really regret once again that John Walker is not getting the death penalty. We need to execute people like John Walker in order to physically intimidate liberals, by making them realize that they can be killed, too. Otherwise, they will turn out to be outright traitors."

Her words were applauded by National Security Adviser Condoleeza Rice, Secretary of Health and Human Services Tommy Thompson, and Lynne Cheney (wife of Vice President Cheney), all of whom were in attendance.

Coulter's threats to liberals were not not addressed by the media. She got away with it. A liberal would not have escaped public outrage if he/she said the equivalent towards conservatives.

There's so much evidence that suggests a conservative bias in the media its not even funny.

Recent examples of censorship. By the way, show me where a liberal equivalant of Ann Coulter was able to threaten conservatives and get away with it in the press.
