Star Trek revamp

Post by THEHOOLIGANJEDI »

Today I've been thinking that since Star Trek has been dragged through the mud by B&B, that maybe someday someone can knock them away from further ruining of Trek (as impossible as it may be) and revamp Trek Universe. I was thinking maybe along the lines similar to Crisis of Infinite Earthsdid for the DC Universe, you get rid of a few screw ups and stuff like that. But it would have to be extremely well written. Including All crews from all series.

My opinion is that they should get new writers, better actors, etc, and make a new series that completely outshoots the other series, even TOS.

Perhaps then, Star Trek may regain some measure of glory.

They should just kill it.

A Crisis-type of event would only fuck everything up.

Yeah Crisis would only fix if there was something decent left over.

Given the crap they basically dragged it through...it's like doing Crisis on Rob personal universe...it's still shit.

I say kill it.

What about a new story where the Vulcans think and over throw the Federation.

That assumes Vulcans can think - given their dogma of stoicism, meditation, and the occasional violent mating ritual, I hardly think that's the case. More realistically, artificial intelligences like Moriaty probably have the best chance of overthrowing the federation (esp. given their piss-poor computer security.)

The best thing to revive Trek would be to set it in the archives for a while.. Say ten years... THEN come back.

What's needed is new writers with input on the characters that they need to write about. I think that the plots will come with that. The directors also need to be changed, and many of the actors need to be replaced.

If ST got writers that were creating originial stories not recycling, then you would have to shelf ST for 10 years.

If ST was shelved for 10 years, think about all those rapid trekkies that would be wondering around on the loose! Just thinking about the havok those morons would cause is enough to me NIGHTMARES!!!!!

Just suddenly have main characters start getting killed off suddenly? You know, it's worked for other series.

It might add relevence to the series. Alternatively, they could just start yet another series with new characters.

I was talking to a friend today about this, I think there should be no new trek for 5 years, let it die in there be a year of two without even syndication showings, and then begin a new series with the lynching of B&B, where writers and scientific comentator are the same position, or atleast the lead writer. Not someone that knows a bunch of scientificy words, but the guy that accually understands somethings about science. Any writer that relies on technoblabble will be prosecuted, any writer that rehashes old storylines will be fined, any writer that tries time travel will be shot.

Simple. The first line is Captain Kirk waking up and saying "Damn, what a fucked up dream. I gotta stop having orgies before bed."

A friend and I had an idea similar to this, we took some existing eps and gave them darker, more realistic outcomes, it was pretty cool
"Oh no, oh yeah, tell me how can it be so fair
That we dying younger hiding from the police man over there
Just for breathing in the air they wanna leave me in the chair
Electric shocking body rocking beat streeting me to death"

Hey Gandalf, how about something like this: When Voyager encountered the Borg for the first time they were assimilated as easily as a Tellerite Freighter! Or when Q took them into the Continuum, it was something that was a little bit cooler than a dirt road? Or, I got it, Janeway smiled with that stupid smirk she always makes only to be slapped in the face and onto the ground by the Klingon they mysteriously discovered in the Delta Quadrant?

Actually, maybe Trek could be repaired if Q somehow explains that some sort of alternate timeline took the place of the real one and... Ah hell, Trek is screwed.

You know, it made me think like this:

Golden Age Star Trek:
TOS

Silver Age Star Trek (replace 'Silver' with 'Shit' in respect of B&B):
TNG, DS9, VOY, ENT

Post-Crisis Star Trek:
- NO VOYAGER!!!
- Reduced amount of technobabbles
- No more *brainbugs*
- The Federation now have REAL army
- Picard is played by Michael Ironside
- Sisko is played by Samuel L. Jackson
Now we got REAL Star Trek!!!!

It could still be saved. Like Nitram says, put it out to pasture for 10 years,
do some HARD thinking and use that decade long hiatus to work on
the plotlines, and basically get some GOOD actors this time around.

Above all, add some asskicking feds to it, don't make them such total
wussy bastards.

Just leave it alone. Like honestly what hasn't been done yet? Remember- it's still Star Trek- you can't turn it into Babylon 5, it just won't work.

I'm sorry, but at this point, it would be like trying to bail out the Titanic with a shot-glass. You can't save something which is already lost.

I'm not talking about writers with delusions of god-hood. I'm talking about
the Feds being the way they were in KIRK'S time, asskickers.

I'll agree 100%

My "PostCrisis" Trek would first eliminate the stupid Death of the Greatest Captain of all time Kirk. That's top priority. It would change around some storylines, depussify the Borg, and probably eliminate certain thing that always bothered me.
