Indeed, which is why I assumed Saxton was referring to ships such as the Imperator/Tector classes. Despite the hangups with TIE launching capability (no pun intended), I imagine the Venators could've been kept around somehow during the GCW.

I just remembered something, from the ANH SE, we actually see a TIE fighter in a hangar onboard the DS. Thing is, it appeared to be hovering in mid-air. I couldn´t make out any racks or anything. Wtf is up with that?

ready to lift of for example (also the Naboo N-1 fighters don't have landing gear so they use repulsors when there's no racks)

Whoops, I see racks. But nothing holding on to the fighter... Maybe they do work like N-1s in that respect. "Less advanced technology, my ass..."

or the rack clamp on to top of the "solar" panels (which we don't see).

Ah. Always thought that looked awkward. It´s like in ROTJ, we see a TIE Bomber hanging from a similar rack, but I can´t make out any clamps. Maybe some weird repulsor/magnetic grid...

Well we don't top part of panels and else they either retracted or just tooo small to seen from that distance (assuming there's any in front of the TIE),
