And they're conservative on the economic issues. This shows a shift to the right in journalists from 20 years ago.

This shows a bias towards Social Liberalism and Economic Conservatism, do you honestly question your own evidence? It is clearly indicative of centrist tendencies (though the bias on social issues is much greater than that on economic ones).
