Federation Vs. Mandalorians
We all know that the Federation would lose to anything set around the time of the movies, but how well do you think they would survive if the Mandalorians, by act of Q, arrive in the alpha quadrant and begin conquest rather than attacking the Republic prior to the Sith War in KOTOR, would anyone or anything be able to stand up to the armored warriors comming in with their Basilisks and blasters?

Well, I dont know if theres enough info on Mandalorian capabilities to make a really comparison, but I would guess their weaponry would still be on par with the power outputs of the Empire, if not on the scale.

They were able to bloody the Republic's nose despite being massively outnumbered. The Republic, in turn, is able to fight the Sith, even if they spent most of the war losing. At any rate, their ships are roughly comparable. The Sith, meanwhile, were able to completely level Taris in a few hours, at most.Pure Sabacc wrote:Well, I dont know if theres enough info on Mandalorian capabilities to make a really comparison, but I would guess their weaponry would still be on par with the power outputs of the Empire, if not on the scale.
So the Sith, the Mandalorians, and the Republic are all on the same technological level, and that level is well above the Federation's. Federation gets crushed.
As usual.

Perhaps we need to find a better playmate for the Federation.RedImperator wrote:They were able to bloody the Republic's nose despite being massively outnumbered. Data's not waterproof. Their combat water-balloons make him explode, and everyone else dies of grief, except for one Redshirt thanks to a cosmic improbability anomaly.Duken wrote:Arn't they confined to one planet? Actually, Insurection has data walking on the bottom of a lake. So I guess he is waterproof, not that it will save him.Nephtys wrote:Data's not waterproof. Any connection between your reality and mine is purely coincidental.
Yet what he creates tends to be total shit. Example: Ode to Spot.
Purely subjective. Believe it or not, there are people who like that poem.
There are people who like to eat shit too. Those people are idiots.- Darth Servo and Bounty.

Perhaps something smaller but space borne, like the Azzameem shipping corporation?Pure Sabacc wrote:Perhaps we need to find a better playmate for the Federation.

Problem is tech disparity. When it takes tens to hundreds of ships to bring down one of yours, if the opposition just stands there. It's not a war, it's a lame duck hunt.
That has been the problem with most scenarios, if they can access something even close to a ISD or anything with the Acclamator firepower and shielding, they are able to bloody the Federation severly. If they can access a flotilla of such vessels it becomes a slaughter.

Chiss sans Hand of Thrawn/Empire of the Hand might be a fair oponent. Higher power for ships, but extremely limited mobility and fewer resources. But Outbound flight will tell for sure.

If the Mandalorians are smart, they will realize that the local governments have nothing that can hurt them, and only raw materials that can help.
So they could become mercenaries, or even bodyguards using their troops, and fast transports using their ships. They use their communications systems for high-speed communications; essentially exploiting their tech advantage as long as possible.
They could use a droid controller system to remote control the Star Trek combat droids (seen in DS9), to improve their effectiveness. The droid controller never gets put at risk, and the ST droids could be up-armored to make them tougher.
The key that they are doing though, is trading for raw materials, basic industrial systems, and similar so they can build a lower-tech industrial center to support lower technology. Eventually they will build their infrastructure and technology up to GE levels, but even 1/10 GE technology is far superior to local tech.
Eventually, the Mandalorians do conquer, but they conquer through economic and industrial capability, rather than military might. Colony near the Mandalorian Empire is running low on food? Mandalorian technology allows greater food production in worse climates, in exchange for various raw materials and a percentage of the extra food produced. Colony plagued by pirates? Contract out for Mandalorian sensors and defenses in exchange for goods, or pledge loyalty and get full fleet protection. Colonial neighbor monopolizing trade routes? Rent Mandalorian ships, and get goods to market ten times faster.
All of the above would be done using upgraded Treknology, not full GE technology, so it could be easily produced using local materials.
Of course, if anyone attacks them, their military might is more than capable of anally violating anything that tries.
Like the books 1632 and 1633, where a West Virginia town is transplanted to 1632 Germany. They have 20th century tech, but have to build down to 19th century, to survive, and help the locals. Of course, the local kings, bishops (including Richelieu), bankers, and similar are adapting to the situation as well.

The Mandalorian clans of the Era I'm talking about (Pre-KOTOR and before the war) are big on the glory in cobat and are known for killing those they view as weak.Coalition wrote:If the Mandalorians are smart, they will realize that the local governments have nothing that can hurt them, and only raw materials that can help.

Then they'll have to change their ways or go and seek enemies elsewhere. What glory is there in cutting grass? Because it would be nothing else with the Federation.

Cut the "grass" and start feeding the people on meat. I.E. kill the UFP and change Trek scociety into a warrior cult. The Mandolorians go to war for the challange if you are not a challange you die if you are a challange you might survive if you can defeat them.

Exactly, but how long would it be for them to pull it off, definately not as quickly as the Empire or others of the sort, and the Milky May becomes the center of a new Manadlorian EmpireKartr_Kana wrote:Cut the "grass" and start feeding the people on meat.
