More then likely, with romantic and sexual skills of two horny teenagers, they just did it and didn't realise the consequences.

Case in point, I believe in the Attack of the Clone's novelization, they did it in the Lars garage after Anakin admitted to slaughtering the Sandpeople.

I doubt very much under those circumstances, they would have stopped to ask Owen or Beru where they kept the condoms

She doesn't want to encourage his feelings; yet she dims the lights, starts a fire, lights some candles, changes into the smallest, tightest corset on the system and if you listen very closely, she's even puts the walress of love, Barry White, on the turntable. Also, let's remember that a number of years elapse between AotC and RotS. So Padmé and Anakin have been married and presumably fucking like jack-rabbits all that time. At least one of them wanted to have kids.
