Hello All, new to this forum, and also new to reading the wonderful world of the EU.
I have a small, albeit nagging question about Vector Prime, which, I totally fucked up and read out of order as I did not know better at the time.
How exactly did Yomen Carr's beetles cause the planet Exgal 4 was utilizing to go extremely greenhouse in a matter of weeks?
I guess I have two questions, and 2, how did the Star Destroyer not crash into the ice planet and destroy the Vong's base, would not the gravity of the planet have reeled the sucker right in? As Jacen's ice driller got through pretty quickly?
Thanks for you input all and regards

Re: Vector Prime Question
Don't remember about that, but I suppose it is a similar process to the bioweapon that wiped out Ethor.Darth Mortis wrote:How exactly did Yomen Carr's beetles cause the planet Exgal 4 was utilizing to go extremely greenhouse in a matter of weeks?
I think the destroyer somehow missed the planet.I guess I have two questions, and 2, how did the Star Destroyer not crash into the ice planet and destroy the Vong's base, would not the gravity of the planet have reeled the sucker right in? As Jacen's ice driller got through pretty quickly?
Anyway, one shouldn't be too serious with Vector Prime. Even among SW books, it is considered particularly bad. Especially scientifically. One can rationalize how to stop starships in space. One cannot rationalize the way Helska blew, or how evaporation cools the planet, and all that good crap.

Yeah, I struggled with the moon hitting the planet as well (trying to keep this relatively spoiler free)
My issue is how did an exploding star destroyer miss the planet, would it have not been brought into the planet? How could it not?
Do you have any recommendations as to good books to peruse?
And why the F did they kill chewie

Chewie ain't a spoiler anymore. The moon hitting Serndipal is a tiny matter compared to the Helska fiasco - a lesson in why people who don't have scientific capabilities should leave as much to the imagination as possible when writing sci-fi. Serndipal can be SoDed as a capability of the basal. Helska ... blech.
Anyway, it is actually pretty easy for the SD to miss the planet as long as it is moving at reasonable velocity and not aimed at the planet. If its vector is not aimed any part of the planet, and it has enough velocity, it can escape easily even as a hulk - think of a slingshot trajectory if it helps you.
