Imageshack? How do we know that is real?
It's been posted on other sites, you know.
I've seen it but they ALL link to an Imageshack pic. I have not seen it hosted on any major site in relation to the PS3.

What? Well I'll be damned

Killzone pics and some from another game. Doesn't look any better than 360 honestly. Where are pics from the FF7 and Spiderman2 realtime demos?

The PS3 should murder the XBox 360 in loading times since its still on DVD-9.
To hell with the benchmarks and the Blu-ray. Spanning discs puts the X-Box back in the running as far as game size is concerned. The important question is can dev's use the PS3's one PPC and 7 math units more effectively than the XBox's 3 dual thread PPC units? Having multiple math units is great, but control logic is still a critical factor. I heard that it's impossible to get 60 fps or htz in 1080p. Is this true?

So the new controller is basically a PS2 controller painted silver and horribly, horribly misshapen? How crappy.

The p stands for progressive scan, or 60 FPS. At the very least 59.9.

I don't see how its impossible. Just most HDTV's don't support it. 1080i is 30 FPS, and its impossible to get 60 FPS in 1080i.

The i and p make all the difference.

I haven't seen any TV's that support 1080p yet though.

Has X360 had any movies released yet? KZ2 looks pretty fucking good in motion (of course, it is a tiny little window).

I hope we get these kinds of visuals during gameplay. I was impressed most by Killzone 2, followed by that absolutely fucking insane demo of that race in the desert. Whatever the name of it was, I've forgotten.

edit:

It's called Motor Storm.

CNN confirms the design.
CNN wrote:LOS ANGELES (CNN/Money) – Sony won't have a new console on the market this holiday season, but it's doing all it can to convince consumers to wait a bit longer before buying their next video game machine.

The company unveiled details of its planned PlayStation 3 Monday, showing off a machine with enormous horsepower, stunning graphics and a slew of multimedia elements.

Due in about a year, the PlayStation 3 boasts an engine 35 times more powerful than the PlayStation 2, according to Sony. It will support up to seven wireless controllers and has outputs for two high-definition televisions (HDTVs).

Sony (Research) did not announce whether it plans to launch the system first in Japan, then months later in North America, as has been its practice with previous PlayStations, or simultaneously throughout the world.

"All of us at Sony Computer Entertainment have been waiting a long time for this moment," Kaz Hirai, President and CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment America, said at a news conference.

"We have always attempted to do things differently. Our vision has taken us to unprecedented levels of success and innovation. Just keeping up with conventional technology is not enough for us."

The PS3 will be fully "backward compatible," playing all existing PlayStation and PlayStation 2 games. It will come equipped with a Blu-Ray DVD drive and support the sharpest format for HDTV, 1080p.

Wireless controllers using Bluetooth technology will be standard. Sony (Research) said the system will support up to seven simultaneous players, a significant boost from the four standard today.

Additionally, PSP owners will be able to use their handheld gaming device as either a controller or an additional screen, perhaps viewing tactical or statistical information that ties in with the game on your television.

Graphically, Sony showed a number of clips running on PlayStation 3 hardware, including "Devil May Cry," "Metal Gear Solid," "Gran Tursimo" and "Tekken" and had live interactive demos of several games, including Electronic Arts' (Research) "Fight Night: Round 3".

The PS3 will ship with a detachable 2.5-inch hard drive and will include slots for a number of consumer electronic digital storage devices, including Sony memory sticks, SD memory cards and compact flash cards.

In addition to playing games, it will allow users to access digital video and audio files, view digital pictures, offer video chat and allow users to access the Internet.

As with Microsoft's (Research) Xbox 360, online functionality will play an important role with the PS3. The system will ship with a built-in gigabit Ethernet port and can handle both types of wireless Internet access, 802.11b and 802.11g.

"PlayStation 3 truly is the system to be placed in the center of the living room in homes around the globe," said Ken Kutaragi, widely considered the father of the PlayStation. "The future is almost here with the PS3."

Those are some sweet videos, however from what ive seen, I don't think their will be any noticable difference in graphics performance between these new systems, at least not in the first generation of games.

That controller however.... ugh, I thought the Gamecube controller was bad....

If this thing uses a Blu Ray drive where the discs have to be loaded in from caddy's how will people be able to play their PS1 games if the drive only loads caddy discs? Will you have to put your PS1 or PS2 discs into caddy's?
