Roger Ebert just gave it three and a half. I need no more convincing.
The most basic assumption about the world is that it does not contradict itself.

Out of what, pray tell?

Is that a good rating?

I'm not really familiar with Ebert's rating system....

It's 3½ of 4. He also gave TPM 3½, but he only gave AOTC 2.

Another gem:
It's why we root for Yoda in Attack of the Clones and, now, Revenge of the Sith: the little green dude is like some childhood pet or stuffed animal coming to life and kicking some major ass, using a light saber that, face it, no human penis could ever hold a candle to.
Humerous sadness.

P.S. They brought this up on Fox News and even THEY said that you have to really look for objectionable stuff if you want to pick a fight.

Bill "Big Blubbering Vagina" O'Reilly is reviewing RotS on Wednesday apparently ... it'll be interesting to see him review a SW film

Here's what the NYT had to say:
This is by far the best film in the more recent trilogy, and also the best of the four episodes Mr. Lucas has directed. That's right (and my inner 11-year-old shudders as I type this): it's better than "Star Wars."
High praise.

Did you see the video of O'LIE-ly with the two colonels? He asked if either had been in combat. Only one said yes, at which point O'LIE-ly patronized the shit out of the non-combat colonel by saying (not exact quote, but close enough) "Well those of us who were in combat know things..." and was totally condescending to the second colonel. :wanker: :finger:

O'LIE-ly can conjure up more fanciful and preposterous fiction than George Lucas, Robert Howard and L. Frank Baum combined. What a dick!

Putting Lucas and O'lie-ly in the same sentance is offensive. Replace his name a jackass of "true" scifi like Orson Scott Card, or David Brin.

No, Brin's bullshit is decidedly unimaginative. O'LIE-ly is right up there with Baron Munchausen and is funny as hell, to boot (though not on purpose) .

Here:
I'll tell you what. I've been in combat. I've seen it, I've been close to it... and if my unit is danger, and I've got a captured guy, and the guy knows where the enemy is, and I'm looking him in the eye, the guy better tell me. That's all I'm gonna tell you. The guy better tell me. If it's life or death, he's going first
Notice the implication that he's had military service.

Link

Notice how outraged he gets when the caller calls him on his misleading statement. He now claims that he survived a "combat situation" of some kind in Argentina or something. No proof has emerged to my knowledge.

The tomatometer has shot up to 85%.
After all these years of anticipation, it is a bummer to learn that all it amounts to is Anakin having reoccurring nightmares or visions that may or may not even come true. This revelation is hardly a believable plot point from which to hinge an entire film on never mind what we are to assume are logical, commonsense choices by the characters involved.
*sigh*

Yet another idiotic reviewer who just doesn't get it. It's funny how he complains about Clones not containing anything significant- one would've thought his dreams about the death of his mother would clue him in as being, oh ... you know ... IMPORTANT?!

I have long known that most reviewers (particularly the lesser-known ones) are so stupid that they can barely figure out how to tie shoelaces. The vast majority of critics didn't even realize that Starship Troopers was satirical, for fuck's sake. Most of the criticisms leveled against the film lambasted its simplistic portrayal of the bad guys and its cheesy good guys, thus indicating that most critics are indeed dumber than a box of hammers.

So when some moron doesn't understand that Jedi dreams and visions really do mean something despite that whole "Force" thing that we've all known about for nearly 30 years, it's not a surprise to me.

Well, I didn't know that it was satirical for the longest time. I thought the movie was just plain bad, and nothing at all related to the novel, instead of a kind of parody of it. And since Hollywood DOES often throw out simplistic crap, it's getting hard to tell what's deliberate and what's not. Take a look at our lovely 'Wing Commander' movie for example.

This of course, does not excuse the reviewer at ALL, who doesn't seem to pick up the idea of the force after another five movies. In a setting where people are frequently performing magical feats all over the place, a bit of precognition doesn't seem particularly far-fetched. I see it as a reviewer deliberately trying to be ignorant.

The worst one was still the guy who lambasted the editing decision in "Return of the King" that saw clips of Faramir's ill-fated counter-attack at Osgiliath interspersed with Denethor eating. He also wanted them to actually show the combat in that sequence. The guy SERIOUSLY DIDN'T GET IT. And the whole time I was watching this in the theatre I was thinking it was way too over-the-top, and was bashing people over the head with its message.

That really pissed me off! Here we had this great scene and Peter Jackson had to ruin it with that distracting battle. I mean, did he have any desert afterwards? More scenes of him washing it down with a refreshing beverage should have been put into the Extended Edition, really. ;)

For the heck of it I checked to see some fans' view of this movie.

On IMDB.com, ROTS has an 8.1 out of 10 (the same as ROTJ). ANH and ESB both got an 8.8, and TPM got 6.4. ;)
