Tell me if this makes any sort of sense. (It does to me.)

Air Conditioning helps contribute to obesity.

Like all animals we use fat to help insult us from the cold. If we are used to cooler weather, or body reacts by adding fat for insulation.

I have no evidence of this, only that I know alot of fat people who like it freezing in my work place, while alot of the skinnies like it on the warmer side of thing.

Nah. No one sets the airconditioning on so much that it is significantly cold unless they're already fat due to other reasons. A skinny person will always lay off the air conditioning, so he won't get fat because of it.

What it might do is make the fat people fatter. The situation you described above might not be the reason, though. I think it is because we are tempted to sit inside on the computer, with the air conditioning on, postulating numerous, unprovable hypotheses on obesity and evolutionary trends on random forums. 8)

I couldn't have said it better.

I have heard it said that what we do from 9 to 5 governs what we do from 5 to 9. Since more and more people simply sit around (ie, sit in office cubicles in front of computers) all day long, they don't move around as much and don't burn off as many of those excess calories, which all gets stored in the infamous love handles. And then again, some of us are just unlucky and are genetically more prone to getting fat.

I found it surfing through MSN health, but if I recall correctly, according to Denise Austin, 12 minutes a day of her ab routine will eliminate most of those rolls. Even so, it all boils down to using 3500 more calories than you consume. You drop 1 pound of fat.

Weight lifting is also a good way to reduce rolls, but keep in mind you will gain muscle mass, and so not always lose weight. It's also hard on the joints too, especially for those who load up very heavy and lift continually. Be aware of that as well.
