Alot of bragging, with a few jems like their ONLINE community will work through Gamespy. Also facts like 94% of the handheld market is theres.
Sounds like both Sony and Microsoft.

Microsoft's timeline: Shows pics of NES and how innovative the 2D systems were. Cut to 3D systems, all there is is the XBox which 'revolutionized' gaming. Nothing but XBox.

Sony: PS2 was the most powerful console and was unrivaled. I watched the first half the keynote. It was mostly good but the beginning made me laugh out loud.

I can't believe you forgot to mention online Super Smash Bros as a Revolution launch title!

Stark; I suspect an external hard drive will be available at some point. Though I may be wrong, look at it. There's no way it could fit a HDD. A zipped N64 game is TINY though, sooo...

I'm excited. I missed Majora's Mask and its no longer in stores, even used. I also missed Mario RPG though I got to play it somewhere long after the SNES was gone and loved it. I want both those games so bad and even went looking for them but can't find them. Now I can get them :D

Wouldn't a 4 gig HDD fit in it? Like they put in the iPod mini's? ..or whatever the storage medium is..

You mean the iPod Mini which costs $200?

It would fit but would drive up the costs way too much.

Yeah, but how much of that is paying for the name. The storage medium itself isn't 200 bucks, is it?

New pics of the Rev

It has a flap which reveals Gamecube controller ports. This may be hinting at how different the native control scheme will be.

The colors are nice, too. Best design this coming gen.

Hopefully it will at least have an additional external Hard Drive, that could connect via USB or some other connector. That would be cool.

I agree with the color scheme, though. The silver looks great.

BTW, does this thing play DVD's?

Sweet, thanks!

I'm curious about the flap in the front. I wonder if the thing can take SD or CF cards (Nintendo is using SD in the Play-Yan). That'd be great for storage.

I believe that it will use SD cards... I read that somewhere, I'll try to find it. I found this interesting as well..

Quote, from the sourced page:

UPDATE (16:18 GMT): The console will take the name of "Revolution" or "RS" (Revolution System) and will come shipped with a wireless pad. The amount of wireless pads the system can handle is unconfirmed. Apparently, in contradiction to our earlier update, the console will be around the same measure of power as the PS3. It will come equipped with online from launch day.

The known specs thusfar
Two disc formats, one slot: Instead of a tray, a single, innovative, self-loading media bay will play both 12-centimeter optical discs used for the new system as well as Nintendo GameCube discs. Owners will have the option of equipping a small, self-contained attachment to play movies and other DVD content.

A few seconds late there my friend. ;)

Personally, I'm more excited about the two standard USB 2.0 ports. I'm thinking external HDD's, and controller ports for when we don't want to spend money on batteries constantly.

USB 2.0 + built in flash memory + SD card slot? This thing could easily run DamSmallLinux! Plug in an Apple keyboard (built in USB hub) or any normal USB hub, and keyboard, mouse, and if you want external hard drive..whoo!

fuck I'm going to have a hard time in choosing between the PS3 and the Revolution. What can I say, I'm a sucker for classic gaming.
Or would I dare to buy them both? Only time will tell

Also, I read about a GBA Yoshi game that had a motion detector in the cardridge so by turning your GBA you could control Yoshi. According to the reviewer it worker fine.
Wouldnt be suprised if they added such option in their controllers. I think it might be handy for racing games and the like

Me too :( I'm fairly certain I'll buy them both at this point. Since getting them both will cost me a fortune I can entertain myself with some old NES games on the Revolution till I save enough to get some next gen games.

Poor MS isn't gonna get much money from SD.net this console generation...

A much better design then the GC, and the access to the old games is really cool, but it doesnt seem worth it unless you can afford to buy all the systems or your a nintendo fanboy.

The lack of a hard drive (im sorry but flash memory just doesnt cut it) and out of the box support for DVD's or next gen Blu Ray tech pretty much kill any chance of me ever purchasing it.

Aren't SD cards already capable of 1 gig storage?

I'm fairly sure I saw 2 gig cards in Japan, though they were fairly hefty.

Not just there. I have one for moving video files from my home to my work computer and back again. We use them for analysis.
