I thought the general consensus was that they were some type of destroyer variant based on the Acclimator hull
I heard from someone at the TF.net boards that WOTC rpg sources briefly mention the existence of "destroyer" and "battleship" (obviously not Saxton-style "Star Dreadnoughts") variants to the Acclamator. Given that variants exist, I don't think it would be much of a stretch to say that some Acclamators also carry varied fighter/transport/troop complements.

I'm quite impressed by these numbers, not only because they're bigger than WEG's minimalist crap, but because they turn out so well. 156 V-19s comes out to exactly 13 full squadrons of 12 fighters each. However, I think it should be noted that this is only a LOWER limit, since we never actually see the the swarm of V-19s end. It's also cool that we saw 22 LAATs in the hangar, and then exactly 22 LAATs launching from the ship during the battle. The cartoonists really seemed to have put in a lot of effort.

Necronlord, will you be counting the LAATs from the other Acclamators? They seemed to have a lot more.

I don't think that ship is 750 meters long..........
A ~300-meter-long aircraft carrier can hold over 85 planes. It's not ridiculous at all for a 752-meter-long Acclamator to carry over 156 fighters. Besides, that one appears to have a reduced number of LAATs.

At the time I thought it still carried the massive number of LAAT/is

It's not just the fighters in that case.

It's logistics and support for a large amound of LAATs and their clone troopers.......

These could very likely be the Acclamator II-class warships, a new ship sub-class originating from the TGC. In addition to this, in several of the Clone Wars comic books, we see Acclamator variants with ventral launch bays. They could all be the light destroyer variant, mentioned in the SW RPG Core Rulebook (2002), to have been produced by RHE immediately after the beginning of the war.

Try frigate-variant. And they're not simply "variants" of the Acclamator. They may be superficially similar but their basic structure and hull integrity is radically different. We're talking about moving important parts of the power infrastructure and such.

LAAT/i ships are actually capable of manoeuvring in deep space, as exemplified in the Clone Wars cartoon, Star Wars: Republic #58, 70, and 71, and in Star Wars: Shatterpoint. They have atmospheric containment shields.

No; they're not the same model - they can't be. LAAT/i's are specifically optomized for low-altitude carrier operations. I don't think "low altitude" means "low orbit." A superficially similar craft can be much different. I agree, these must be HAAT/i's.

Then I would guess these HAATs fill the role of the Skipray blastboat, acting as a heavily armed gunboat in deep-space combat.

No, I doubt they have the speed or firepower for extraatmospheric offensive encounters.

Before you go too far with this, you might want to note that only one class of Separatist warship at the battle over Coruscant is depicted in episode 23: Invisible Hand lookalikes. Are we really to believe that there is an area of the battle where dozens if not hundreds of modified (Big hangar bay on these things, I believe that's the specified major modification) Providence-class ships? Or are the cartoons not an entirely trustworthy source? I suppose we could lable this one scene some kind of blooper. I'm just not sure what to make of it.

Why would you assume that those ships are all have carrier mods? ROTS:ICS only states that the Invisible hand was a mod. Its more likely that they are not modified, as theywould be a better match against those Venators.

We know form the ROTS trailers and ICS that other types of CIS ships participated in the battle. Tinn told Mace that the Separatist ships were still spilling out of hyperspace. For all we know the Providence class ships seen in the closing episode were simply the first wave.

I think that role would fit more with the Republic Gunboat/dropship in ROTS. It was called "gunboat" in the ROTS CG and "drop ship" in production art. Seemed better equipped for space combat than any HAAT.

Well, like I said they have a big visible bay on the side just like the Hand.

Which episode are you refering to? I just re-watched the final to episodes, and their is no obvious docking bay. There are black panels in the area, where the Invisible hand has its bay; but no openings, and no fighters launching from said openings.

Since we see Tri-wing droid fighter's some of them must be carrier mods, but not necessarily all of them.
