LOL like the two sisters who were named Orangejello and Lemonjello (emphasis on "ange" as awnnnnnggge and "lemon" as "lemawwwn" respectively)?
My mom works at a pediatrics office, and she ran into some poor child named "Placenta." When my mom asked the mother why she named her child that, she said, "Well I heard the doctor say it, and I thought it sounded pretty."
The State Registrar had to stop a mother who wanted to name her child Gonerrhea.

When the cpl and myself were thinking of names for our kids we never took into account how popular they were, we just looked at the meanings and what the names meant to us and chose them that way.

Our son=John George Kendall because cpl kendall's father's name is John, and his grandfather's name was George
Our daughter= Madison Michelle Kendall because Madison means daughter of a soldier and we knew it would be nice with our last name, Michelle cause her godmother/my best friend since we were 2 is named Michelle.

So as you can see we never even thought of popularity, why do people do this, especially seeing as though the popularity changes by the time people will be thinking of how popular their names are.

Those names are the result of illiterate American-born welfare recipients trying to sound "african".
Our office called them "Designer Names".
'Le', 'De', 'La', 'Ka'... the list goes on, and 3/5 of them end with a variation on 'Tonya'.
The ones who want 'african' names generally choose something that at least sounds somewhat African.

My Mom told me that when "Roots" first ran, the hospital where she worked had a lot of black women naming their kids from names used on the show.

Hell, look at the average NBA roster for a list of 'African' names used back in the 1980's.

'LeShonya' doesn't sound African in the slightest, but it does sound like something that a total dumbass would think is French.

I've been trying desparately to talk my brother out of naming his first daughter "Dakota", but to no avail. In my family, generally the first name comes from the Bible and the middle name comes from a family member.

Jeremiah Adam, Peter Newell, Nathan Charles, David Newell, Ezekiel Alfred...

Good strong names. We have very few women in my family of my last name, so no real conventions for that, but I think 'Chloe' is a good Christian name, and so are the virtues.

Why have such particular rules?

Chloe is a top porn actress. She's well known for having real orgasms while getting ass-fucked, without even requiring any clitoral stimulation.

It's probably Family Tradition... which is something that can never be broken. ;)

A former employee (gone long before I started) called the other day, asking for our former manager (she just got promoted) to get a reference for a new job. Here name was Chiffon. What the hell kind of name is that? :?

Long ago in a distant land, I, Aku, the shape-shifting Master of Darkness, unleashed an unspeakable evil,
but a foolish samurai warrior wielding a magic sword stepped forth to oppose me. Before the final blow
was struck, I tore open a portal in time and flung him into the future, where my evil is law! Now, the fool
seeks to return to the past, and undo the future that is Aku...
