Unless Padme somehow survived a couple years longer than she actually did, baby Leia's not going to have any memory of her at all. Though I suppose you could invoke some Force-related explanation, since we know Leia is at least somewhat Force-sensitive (from the EU.)

Though, if we were to analyze Leia as an actual person, we'd have to conclude that any memories of her real mother were put there from stories told to her by Bail and his wife when she was a very small child.

I was surprised Leia knew she was even adopted by Bail Organa.

Also, for secrecy's sake, why didn't Luke take on the Lars name while on Tatooine?

Guess it has to do with the families the children got. The Organas wanted to have a kid, and as such raised Leia like their own. The Lars got Luke essentially because they were the only paternal kin. Was wondering why not raise Luke on Naboo with Padme's family, but, that seems like a BAD idea.

On a side note, how does the Monarchy of Alderaan work? Bail Organa sure as hell doesn't seem like the King. Is his wife the Queen?

OK, just got back from seeing the movie... Again! ((Wooo Rock on))

And While some things got better, One thing really REALLY Got worse with the second showing...

Droids should never, ever, EVER Talk to each others. In EP-I ONLY the weakly droids talked, and were silly, and were dorky. In Ep-II All other Droids were silent, and they were cool, especially the Droid Dekia and the SBD's. They were silent, they seemed evil, and nasty... In Ep-III, now, for what ever drug induced reason ALL F***ING Droids can TALK!!!

I didn't really notice it that much the first time, too caught up in the action. Sure I noticed that the SBD talked like they had sucked up Helium, but missed some of the other really bad uses. Droids going "AAAHHH!!!" as they are shot, or fall, Droids grunting as they lie pieces, as if wounded. And when not talking, Droids basically making what amounts to 'Toon' sounds.

Squeaking like mice, Chirping, sounding like goofy cartoonis. For Cripse SAKE!

Damn it, I just want to know how much it grossed yesterday. All I can find right now is that it made nearly $17 million for the Midnight screenings in the US alone (which is a monster record-breaker), and something about $50 million in ticket preorders, but nothing else whatsoever.

Fuck, this is freaking killing me more than waiting to see the movie... :|

Maybe the droids are prgrammed to communicate vocally for the sake of their biological counterparts.

Just saw it. Was good, yes. I have to get the soundtrack.

Like the little touches, like the way the Chancellor's guards are now the conspicuous red, the Eta-2 fighters looking very TIE-ish, Tantive IV when new. and the lovely Venators.

I personally thought that Dooku and Grevious died too soon, but now I think about it more, it's good. Then we could watch the Republic be quietly swept under the mat. Or, altenately, be transformed into the new Galactic Empire in a really neat scene The battle driods voices have changed. Not good. =/
Nice to hear a return of the Duel of the Fates, too.
Plus, many kudos for the Tarkin cameo.

Napoleonic tactics do seem to be the order of the day, it seems though. The Troopers on Kashyyk(?) were doing their valiant 'stand stock still' routine, but at least this time seemed to being the armour with them. As for the ship fight, that was... amusing. I was half expecting the Venator tro drop a gang plank and unleash cutlass weilding troopers into the Invisible Hand. There's 'point-blank' and there's 'too damn close'.

Yeah, they can use radio for a network communication session when they need to, but it doesn't help to have your droids wandering around and not making their intentions known.

Kashyyyk is the home planet of the Wookiees. Assuming you didn't already know that, i can see how that comment might seem strange.

I didn't really get a good sense of their tactics, because the camera work was so chaotic and the cuts so quick. But the clones seemed to be defending during that battle, not attacking. They brought up their armour to the beach just as the attack began, presumably for fire support, but that might have been due to a hasty deployment.

They have to make sure the fuckers can't get away but they can't just blow up the ship with volleys of heavy turbolaser fire because Palpatine is onboard, so they mobbed it. Seems reasonably straightforward. They were actually much closer than most of the "point blank range" combat in the Battle of Endor; look at the shots of the Executor, consider how big it is, and then look for Rebel cruisers around it.

Bah, I have no problem with Anakin being conceived by the Force. It's more thematic, and better than painting Shmi out as a whore, frankly. :P

I don't know if you've started reading the novelization yet, but it explicitly describes the Invisible Hand's "run up" path for a hyperjump being blocked off by one of the ships in Lt. Commander Needa's squadron, so yeah that's pretty much the reason I'd say. Earlier, however, ships are described as engaging fire at "hundreds of kms" (though appearing to be right next to each other from the computer enhanced view walls up at the top of the spire, it's a sensor CinC system being described) at near lightspeed, so throughout the battlespace there was a lot of different shit going on.

The hundreds-of-km fighting is probably outside the shield; the Invisible Hand and that close-quarters fighting was mostly enclosed. The few gaps in the segments used for ingressing/egressing Venators would've been tempting hyperjumps.

If the battle wasn't focused mainly on the two Jedi weaving in and out of ships, then we'd get a better image of what's going on. It also doesn't help when the screen is so big, it's much easier to see what's going on on a smaller screen if not as epic.

Given the weapons should be able to at the very least engage at hundreds of klicks, and with max ranges of hundreds of thousands, artificially aided views and the like would be needed. It's not like ship combat today is done with the Mk. I Eyeball when fights take place over the horizon now.

The buzz droids are an interesting idea; they don't make sense as a standard weapon (I would imagine that you have a better chance of disabling an enemy fighter with a proton warhead than a swarm of buzz droids), but they do make sense as a capture weapon. It may be that the Separatists had a policy of trying to capture Jedi alive for some reason.

A very small fraction of the population can actually remember their own births, so it would be very unlikely but theoretically possible for Leia to be able to remember Padme.

Those gun emplacements absolutely suck for short-range engagements, and are obviously meant for long-range fire. They can't track quickly or far because of their recessed design. At long range, this would not be much of a weakness, but at close range it's a real problem.

Vympel says the novel has them as mass drivers, yet I feel they can't be EM based weapons by the nature of the ejected casing (adding more to the ship of the line style aimed for). So either the casing means the rounds are chemical propellant based or the casing holds something else used for the shell.

It could be seen as a psychological weapon against the Order. It's bad enough that a former Master and swordsman is leading the Seperatists, but capture a few Jedi and, like Geonosis, you've got a possible bargaining chip or bait. In addition, if you can turn 'em and then set them loose against their former comrades, even better.

I already said; they're the firing cylinders for the proton torpedo.
