Even if there were other Jedi, there were none with anywhere near the power to deal with Vader and the Emperor, and thus were non-factors in the grand scheme of things. Vader waltzed through the Jedi Temple with impunity, and Sidious wiped out four Jedi masters, fighting Yoda to a stand-still and forcing him to flee into exhile. The Jedi who escaped were probably low-end Jedi in terms of combat ability, since the high-end fighters were all engaged in the Clone Wars and would've been wiped out. Only Jedi who were somehow away from the clones at the time of Order 66, and who then were unable to return to Coruscant before Obi-Wan and Yoda disabled the signal, would have survived. Those are not Jedi who would've been capable of doing anything against either of the Sith Lords or the Empire in general.

I would just like to point out that, of the Jedi in the Clone Wars animated miniseries, the only one who we do not see in Episode III is Shaak Ti...and while it's possible that she died in the Temple, I find her absence encouraging. We never see her die.

I still can't believe the bastards killed Kit Fisto, without even a line or two to his credit...*sob*

"A young Jedi named Darth Vader, who was a pupil of mine before he turned to evil, helped the Emporer hunt down and destroy the Jedi Knights."

As there was prescious little hunting, and a whole lot of shooting in the back in RotS, I have a feeling that a significant number of Jedi survived the events of that movie, only to be hunted down later.

Well, there are something like 20,000 Jedi in the galaxy; the temple
massacre broke their back though; and killed off their base of power,
IE, the best Jedi; who of course were teachers at the temple...etc

Furthermore, Palpatine had been working all along to cast ever-growing shadows of doubt, fear, and outright hatred over the Jedi. So when the time came, with Order 66 and the attempted coup, a good chunk of the rest of the galaxy was ready to turn on them as well, aiding in the hunt.

Any reference in the movie to that slick little scene in the novel with Palpy's recording of the attempted coup?

Any surviving Jedi were hiding so well that Vader, Sidious, and the might of the Empire couldn't find them. It's not surprising that Yoda didn't know about them either.

Ah, what Master of Ossus said pretty much covers it. Vader and Anakin pretty much own most rank-and-file (if you can call them that) Jedi even when outnumbered, and were on par or slightly better than even the two surviving Masters so individual survivors would have posed no threat.

I suppose that's why Luke is the new hope. I now recall we had a thread discussing the grand counter-plan to raise Luke to fight the Sith, yeah. Makes sense.

I'm sure that the beacon thing was put in so that Lucas can have a few surviving jedi show up in the TV series.

As far as the confirmed dead, obi-wan and yoda are the only surviving high council members, definitely.

To bring the EU into this a little more, at the beginnig of The Courtship of Princess Leia Luke finds the former hide out of a jedi who Vader (along wiht plenty of stoormtroopers) hunted down and killed. Also, several of the main plot points of Children of the Jedi revolve around the actions of a few rouge Jedi who were around to oppose the New Order after the events of ROTS.

I recall there being only 10K Jedi in existance during the Prequel Era.

I think Spanky is right, there's a quote in TP which IIRC says there are about 10,000 Jedi at the time of Qui Gonn Jinn.

10,000 before the events in TPM, though im not sure if that is onlyKnights and MAsters or if that includes Padawans, Students, and Younglings as well. Also an assload of Jedi were killed at Geonosis.

Secret Academies and such were good for KOTOR 2, but for The Imperial Era I don't think so. Between Order 66 and Vader's subsequent hunting of the remaining Jedi there shouldn't be enough Jedi left (except for Yoda, and Obi Wan) to do a one man show.

Well, obviously, though I'm not sure why he bothers with Star Wars at all if he despises one of the central pillars of the story. I was just wondering what the "fucking witches" thing meant.

I think it is rather obvious. Obi-Wan said that Darth Vader hunted down and killed the last of the Jedi.

I interpret this as Obi-Wan feeling the death of each Jedi through the force much like Yoda did in ROTS.

Basically Vader spent the 19 years between 3 and 4 being an assasin hunting down most if not all of the Jedi who heard the changed signal and escaped immediate death.
That is the sound of inevitability.

I don't mind and actually like Jedi in the films and primary literature of Star Wars. It's just that for some reason I absolutely hate Jedi being in the games and such, because they allow players to be giant flopping penises rather than actual characters. WEG's RPG was completely biased towards Jedi characters that it was almost absurdly dull. I recall being almost livid when hearing about how characters could become Jedi, because I knew that it would end up with players practically cheating and have everyone and their kaadu become Jedi.

From a gaming standpoint, I find Jedi to be robbing of the emersive experience, really.

No, I meant "witches" as a derogatory strike against all non-film/book Jedi. Read the whole thread before replying.

I'd have to agree with you there, at least for the most part. Heck, I didnt buy Galaxies because of ease and thus number of jedi running around. EVery other person being a force user just doesent work, ever.

Ease?

I got Galaxies from the beginning, and there weren't even ANY force-sensitives until after I quit because of the horrendous lag issues.
