It's strange, I thought that Episode 3 would actually be a (partial) let down, in terms of the box office after all the cynicism out there on prequel movies. It was obviously going to do good, but I didn't think it would do this good. Great movie though, it more than deserves it.

I had to buy a ticket for Saturday, just to get a seat. I think that shows you how well the film has started. Oversea seem to be also strong.
dubbed or subtitled?
Of course dubbed.
In Germany, if you dare to bring a movie only with subtitles into the cinemas, you can be assured that it will be a financial desaster. We have a quite big industry here, to translate movies by dubbing the dialoge. People are used to high-quality dubbing.
Yuck, how terrible. Luckily, dubbing isn't accepted by the audience here in Sweden.
ROTS made 34.5 million dollars in the U.S. on Friday (a 31 % drop).

Revenge of the Sith made $40.9 million on Saturday, making a total of $124.7 million in three days.

BOM has early estimates for $33.8 million on Sunday based on Friday's gross, making a four day total of $158.5 million, but I think it's too early to estimate Sunday.

But where are the international figures? :|

Whoops, spoke too soon.

International numbers are in, and so far the film has made $144.7 million overseas, for a grand total of $303.2 million so far.

That's extremely good figures. $40.9 million for Saturday alone, that's more than Spider-Man made on its opening day alone. Much better than I had anticipated.

The film's made more in four days what took Spider-Man over seven days to make.

Meh, they got my $25.
They say, "the tree of liberty must be watered with the blood of tyrants and patriots." I suppose it never occurred to them that they are the tyrants, not the patriots. That can't be right, since then it would've shattered the 3-day record as well as destroying the previous 4-day record.

Spider-Man still holds the three-day record.

EDIT: No wait, Revenge of the Sith did break the three-day record.

Where are you getting that? CNN doesn't think it broke the 3-day record--only the 4 day and the single day ones.
