Best PT Ship

Post by Crossroads Inc. »

Well! The series is over, the new Trio of movies is done at last. And with them, the last of the new On screen ships we'll see. With that said, which ones left the best impressions? Which ships years from now will rank up there with the classic shap of the ISD? Which ones fell flat or made you cringe? All in all, for me:

Best new ship:
Acclamator.
Perfect Cargo and troop transport, well armed, strong, few design flaws or room for improvment.
Praying is another way of doing nothing helpful
"Congratulations, you get a cookie. You almost got a fundamental English word correct." Pick

Do fighters count as ships? 'cause if so, I'd just like to point out how totally awesome the ARC-170 is.

My vote for best ship would have to go to the Munificent-class Star Frigate. I love everything about it... the overall lines, the four spars, the engine array, the bridge tower, and especially the superheavy prow guns. The fact that it doesn't carry any fighters is a plus.

For most distinctive, memorable design, the Lucrehulk battleships have my vote. The flying doughnuts are rather unique, at least from my experience.

I like the Recusant class (aka Commerce Guild Support Ship). I just think it looks sleek and deadly.

ARC-170

Just a damn smooth ship. Plus I love S-Foils, locking in attack position. Not to mention the damn astromech actually works. I just wish they had emphasized the damn rear canon that was present by blasting a few droid fighters before getting pummeled in all of thier scenes.

Delta-7 Ethersprite

The compact fast, design, angular shape, who cares if it doesnt have a dedicated hyperdrive? Incidentally, I thought it was much better than the newer model. Plo Koon had good taste, quite a ship to die in. :)

I thought all the ships looked good. Shame they're on screen for three seconds :)

All round I probably like the Venator. It needs neons and rims, but thats just me. The Republic fighters are all cool, but ARC-170 gets bonus '1937' points.

Am I the only one who thinks there were too many goddamn Naboo ships? I wanted just the one, consistent Naboo ship for Padme, but it seems like every movie she's flying around in a new ship everytime.

I can understand a new ship in between TPM and AotC- ten years passed. But yeah, they should've just used the ship from AotC for Padme in RotS, there was no need for yet another one.

I didn't include the LAAT because to me it's a vehicle, not a ship, since its not a spacecraft. Just my little own madeup Star Wars rule.

I think the reason why I dislike it is because it seems like they go through all the time and effort to put together a new ship, then have it appear a couple times then throw it out.

In the OT, we see ships being reused and otherwise be consistent. The X-wing is in all three films, as is the MF, as is the Y-wing and Corellian Corvette (I think it was in the Rebel Fleet at the end of ESB). Each film shows us something new, which is a good thing, but a few ships are kept as well to be consistent. In the PT, you get the feeling it's a new ship every scene. We don't get anything like a X-wing that stays with us through the three films, or something like a ISD (yes, Mk1 and Mk2 - regardless they're both ISDs :)).

Some of my favourites would be the ARC fighter (why the hell is it a recon fighter? It looks like a big heavy bomber), the Jedi Starfighter from AOTC (why oh why didn't we see a dogfight with this fighter?) and in terms of good ships we never see ever again, I like the Republic 'cruiser' from the start of TPM and Maul's 'Sith Infiltrator', which for all we know is still somewhere on Tattooine.

It's acronym is Aggressive ReConaissance. So yeah, the Aggressive part :)

The Delta-7 in the Plo Koon death scene was a nice touch.
Maul's 'Sith Infiltrator', which for all we know is still somewhere on Tattooine.
 Dude- where did Maul die? How do you think he got there?

I would've preferred if Anakin took the Sith Infiltrator to Mustafar rather than his Jedi Starfighter. Would've been a cool tie-in to Episode I.

The Venator wins for me, not in spite of, but because of it's design flaws. The twin bridges, side-door and spinal fighter bay give it a kind of panasche, IMO. Second place, the Sith Infiltrator. Third place, the Eta-2 Jedi Starfighter.

The ARC-170 gets major minus points for me because it has 3 pilots and an Astromech. Overkill, perchance?

I love the proto Stardestroyers. Especially the Venetor.

I hate the PT micro-fighters. The only exception is the ARC-170's, the only decent sized fighter in the whole PT. The V-wing is kind of spiffy, though. But the Delta-7 and the Naboo thingy, yueck!

Isn't the V-wing close to the size of the TIE fighter? And the Eta-2 doesn't seem too small if only it had a little meat on the bones.

But I have to agree with the N-1. Stupid, stupid design, particularly the droid socket. But aesthetic from some angles.

Personally, I like the Lancrehulk. It may suck as a battlship, but with 1500+ Vulture Droids, 720 tanks and 61,600 ground troops, it's got impressive capacity to disgorge troops. And that's just its capacity to rapidly deploy. It can carry far more.

I cut the V-wing a little slack due to that it's a more or less wedge shape and has some volume. The Eta, minus the cockpit, is flat and I don't see how they can stuff all the good stuff you'd need in a fighter in there. And I just don't like the Delta.

I wanted big fighters, like the OT. I can't believe they didn't use the Y-wing in the PT some where. Slap some niffty hull plates on her.

The ARC-170 rang true to me, probably due to it's size in relation to the OT fighters. But the rest suck.

The Venator and The Invisible Hand are tied for first place for me with the ARC-170 in second and the Munificent Star Frigate in third.

I'm also going with the Venator. I like the design and general feel of it.
