Such as ?IaMD2 is invalid evidence. Many engineering principles have been lost between the design of the Connie and the TNG era.

Anyway is possible disable the grav plating outside is irrelevant (as we know that EMPs can disrupt ST systems), the key is here's that are the plate's mechanism electric in nature (if they are, an EC detonator could disable them).
I may be an idiot, but I'm a tolerated idiot

Well, that means the squad will have to disable the gravplating in each room before they enter - unless they're physically strong enough to withstand 20x normal gravity.the key is here's that are the plate's mechanism electric in nature (if they are, an EC detonator could disable them).
Also, are their suits fully sealed as standard (ie, do they use their own oxygen even when there's normal atmosphere around them ? In Message in a bottle it's shown that parts of a ship can be flooded with knockout gas. Might take them by surprise.

I'm sure Clone Commando not being able withstand 20g force (for a short time) and Clone Commando suit aren't always sealed (but they would have briefed of any dangers to operation) and I think there's airfilters in the Clonetrooper armor.
Also is this regular E-E with Picard in command (if so the grav plate tactic is not gonna be used).

Why didn't they lock up the boarders with forcefields and crush them with fancy gravity crap in Star Trek Nemesis? Or in all other occasions when the ship gets boarded?

You must remember that only person to use grav plates to defeat an enemy was mirror universe Archer (not that normal Archer was any big pussy, but still).

No one in his right mind would design a ship where you can so easily crank up the gravity to 20x normal, especially not in a ship run by computers as finicky as Federation computers are known to be. The probability of injurious or even fatal accidents would be much higher than the probability of successfully using this to repel boarders.
Realistically, boarders should be an anomaly anyway. You defeat an enemy ship by knocking down its shields and then blowing it up, not by knocking down its shields and then dropping your own shields in order to send "warriors" aboard.

Because Riker wouldn't get his grand scene of fighting a fugly alien above a bottomless pit (hey - bottomless pit on the lowest deck of a ship ? The Feds have got Tardis-level pocket universe technology !).Why didn't they lock up the boarders with forcefields and crush them with fancy gravity crap in Star Trek Nemesis?
Actualy Riker was fighting above a bottomless pit three decks BELOW the lowest deck of the ship...Bounty wrote:Because Riker wouldn't get his grand scene of fighting a fugly alien above a bottomless pit (hey - bottomless pit on the lowest deck of a ship ? I'm kind of posting in the blind here, (as I'm unsure what Delta Squad is), but assuming the following:
a) Delta Squad is from the Star Wars universe, most likely Clone Wars era
b) Delta Squad is a group similar in design, training, and purpose to Navy Seals/Green Barets and other tactical military groups
and
c) There is a situation where their mission is to damage or destroy the Enterprise and they gain entry to the ship propper
Assuming all of the above (first two assumed due to second hand information garnered from what others have posted), I'd say the Enterprise is toasted.
The security on ST ships has been shown to be...lax at best. The guards wear no armor, carry only standard hand weapons (though in some instances they have been seen using phaser rifles), and have demonstrated a distinct lack of tactical knowledge.
Star Wars (Clone Wars era) troops wear armor that is strong and durable, carry weapons capable of cratering duracrete walls, and have at least a basic grasp of 'dodge' and 'seek cover'.
Add on the fact that computer security in ST is lax enough for an unregistered and untrained entity (Professor Moriarity) to, with very little apparant work, gain enough power over the systems to take over the entire ship, I'd guess Delta Squad wouldn't have much trouble locating Engineering. Wether they call up a map or just torture it out of Wesley, they'd find Engineering and reach it with minimal to moderate casualties.
Once in Engineering, "kill anything that moves" and "explosives + big humming glowy thing = massive damage" follow rather quickly.
I'm going to have to say that unless the Enterprise has some form of here-to-fore unseen Amazing Security Technology™ or the troopers all accidentaly trip and die, the Enterprise is doomed. If they get enough warning, however, they may be able to seperate the saucer section.

Technobabble fields will be an ideal place for Delta Squad to gain entry. Even better, they can be let loose in a delerict ship with a homing distress beacon, and wait for the Enterprise-E to come along and search the delerict for suvivors. They would be in some kind of protected room that hides their life-signs from the Enterprise's scans, preferably near the airlock, as the delerict would be in the aformentioned technobabble field. Once the searchers are aboard, Delta rushes into the shuttle, hijacks it, and flys into the E-E's hangar. They pour out of the ship, shooting anything that moves with their DC-17 blasters. They make their way through the ship, shooting everyone they meet along the way. Security will be completely unprepared for DS. The entire crew will be subjected to a brutal, one-sided massacre at the hands of Delta. Once that's finished, Delta sets charges on the reactor core, puts it on a timer, and gets the heck outta there. The E-E blows to pieces. Mission complete.

This isn't even fair on any level. With the training, armour/shields, weaponry and co-ordination that the commandos have available... It would take as much time to clear the ship, as it would take for the commandos to move from the entry point to where the last line of defense is.
Can you imagine the havoc that would be wreaked on the bridge if a single ion grenade was tossed in there? The sheer number of exploding consoles would kill everyone present...

General AI goombarness aside the commandoes are some pretty mean hombres. They also have a habit of blowing up walls and walking through if they get stuck.
I see part of the combat going like this.
Scorch - "What'cha got there 38?"
38 - "A Federation hand pistol."
Sev - "I got one of those for cleaning my kit, scary."

I'd to what Fixer (Delta 40) would about or do to the federation computer systems.
