You said earlier that I should start with

"15 capital ships (battlecruiser to superdreadnought in size), 30 cruisers (Light Cruiser to light Battlecruiser in size) and, if I recall, 250 escorts (corvette to escort carrier in size.)"

Is that still ok? And is that points or ships?

Aye, that's ok, and that's points not ships.

Try 'close combat' instead of 'close fight.' 'close assault' or 'close attack' work well too, and sound a lot spiffier.

I went with monitor (even though a monitor is a low riding ship with heavy armoured that typically had only 2 guns and could not go out to sea).

Do we know when we want to get a bit more active, game-wise? :)

Well, the plan is I'll launch the end of the hiatus (6 game-months long) in the next few days, after a few more players have indicated interest.

A bit of a primer on major current political groups and the general Galactic situation.

The Quadruple Entente

By common knowledge, the Quadruple Entente is the most powerful alliance in the Galaxy, sitting near the Core and holding the hub of interstellar commerce. It consists of four powers, the largest powers in the Galaxy. They are all far older than the newer nations in the Galaxy, as each of the QE's members are remnants of great empires which predated the Cataclysm itself, and took part in the great war with Halite, the extradimensional invader who triggered the Cataclysm. The members are:
Star Kingdom of Serenity: The largest, wisest, and perhaps most powerful nation in the QE. They are the moderating force, and are famed for their defeat of Halite over two centuries ago. The SKS has since atrophied, but remains one of the greatest powers in the Galaxy.
The Kzin Patriarchy: Violent, arrogant, and powerful, the Patriarchy is the nation of the famed Kzinti. Known as "Ratcats" or "Tabbies" to many humans, these aliens see humans as only slaves and prey, unless they belong to a nation which as proved itself in the eyes of the Patriarch. They acknowledge no governments but those in the QE. They are honorable but brutal fighters.
The Corporate Sector: A major trading power, the Corporate Sector produces goods used across the Galaxy. Seen as one of the more neutral members of the QE.
United Terran Republic: Arguably the greatest Human nation, and in some ways the ideological great-grandchild of the United States. They control the Sol system, and Earth is their capital. The UTR is notable for it's ongoing border disputes , and has recently launched an invasion of the Klingon empire, while supporting a pro-UTR revolt in the Gorn Federation. The UTR has had it's efforts stymied by a multi-nation condemnation of their invasions.
The QE was once Known Space's greatest alliance, but it seems to be waning in power. The UTR's attempts at expansion were slowed drastically by a diplomatic pressure from the East and West, and the QE has taken no efforts to slow the explosive growth of the ERTC, which has recently annexed large portions of territory in the old Aquarian Union under the banner of stopping piracy.

Eastern Rim Trading Compact
Stretching from Corneria Station in the far Northeast to the deep Galactic south, the Eastern Rim Trading Compact's sphere of influence radiates from the Eastern Rim Trade Route. It's members are a large number of smaller nations, including the Rpbblsrk, the Nashtar Repulic, the Sixth Cruiser Squadron, the Krytos Star Empire, and others. It's largest member is the Three Suns Commonwealth, a nation situated in the Southern Core which takes part in the ERTC through it's network of colonies and conquered territory which span the trade route. The ERTC's growth continues unabated with it's recent successful invasion and conquest of the former Aquarian Union, as well as ther continued establishment of new hyperlanes throughout the East.

The Blue Pointe Coalition
The unofficial grouping of nations consists of a number of small and large nations situated across the Western edge of the galaxy, named for the major trading station in the region. Major members include the insular Stuart Corporation and the Sabai. Most notably, the Coalition includes the ACIN, a major grouping of small nations with a great deal of influence in trade, and the Corsair Republic- one of the older and more powerful polities, which is established in the Magellenic clouds. While they are younger as an alliance than the ERTC, their growth seems to be getting under way, with the establishment of new hyperlanes and the commission of powerful Corsair warships to patrol the region.

Neutrals

There are a large number of newly emerging small powers. While their contact with the 'civilized' galaxy is only just beginning, they bare the fruits of potential new alliances and power centers.

Well, I'll be /partially/ scarce for a week starting Wednesday. That is, I'll be able to post whenever I can pry Nitram off of SDN long enough. That said, I'm game to heat things up whenever you lot are, I just might be a bit lukewarm til I get back home to the Den of Digital.

The Patriarchy granted official recognition to the TSC as of the intervention against on the Commonwealth's behalf.

The scale of relations goes like this--
SKS-> The Kzin are very friendly towards the Star Kingdom
UTR-> Relations between Kzin and Terrans are chilly but polite.
Corporate Sector-> The Kzin are largely neutral towards the CS.
TSC-> Again, neutral but regarded as dangerous.
Unrecognized Nations-> Most of these do not rate the Patriarch's notice. The exception is the Corsairs, who are universally reviled.

Probably has to do with the fact we kidnapped a few Kitties from outside the Patriarch's borders for testing our plans for new troops... That would wind His tail up...

I was reading through the STGOD main story thread and I got to wondering were did the ideas for your empire came from.

Mine is a combination of the "nights dawn" trilogy (that’s were the name came from) and the rest is my own idea’s. And some red, blue and green mars thrown in for good measure

O and because I can’t draw a proper picture of what I imagined my race to look like they now look like the kroot from 40k (i.e. my current avatar). Though this may change in time.

Well, mine's a very weird combination of the Night's Dawn Edenists (the whole group mind/consensus thing, mind seperate from body), "The Clouds of Saturn" by Michael McCollum (the whole cities in gas giant's atmospheres), Starfire and HH for most of the weaponry, with some Dahakverse and 5 Galaxies techs thrown in.
That would sum them up more or less.

Perhaps, as a way to re-ignite interest we should have some sort of nasty event happen. Something to bring the good old fire and brimstone back to our little galaxy; Similar to what Nitram's evil machines did for STGOD4, only... well, Nitram isn’t allowed to control this unspeakable evil

I'm thinking a Beast invasion might work... or any sort of evil catastrophe involving some ancient bit of technology, whatever. Just to give people a reason for watching the STGOD and post in it, after all, some evil thing could crush their fancy little empire at any moment ;)

Once we draw back enough people the evil thing will run it's course and hopefully the game will have enough momentum to just keep going on it’s own.

So... mods, how about it?

Sounds good to me, though I'm not a mod.

May I suggest the Beast from Cataclysm? Suitably up-powered for the STGOD universe but same type.

Besides what the Wiki said, their intresting game mechanic is that they(with enough time) can assimilate anyone, unwarned fleets were suprised by fighters that look like their own, except that have organic components.

Mabey we could blame pre fall tech though rather than hyperspace virus.

Mabey some unused last chance weapon.

Also have eiather me or halkwing find in(one of the new people) to further give a reason why we are joining the game.-this is just an idea i dont care about it.
