AotC's actually was the first mention of it. As for EU, *shrug* nothing really comes to mind. In KOTOR II, you play the exile who was tossed out of the Order. So I guess there's one.
Of course, without knowing what happens to him in KOTOR 3, its hard to say if he doesnt come back to the Order.
True, but I doubt it's some how force, rather he will choose to come back or given the state of the Order after/durring KOTOR II, he might found a new Order.

But as far as board culture in general, I do think that young male overaggression is a contributing factor to the general atmosphere of hostility. It's not SOS and the Mess throwing hand grenades all over the forum- Red

But the Exile didn't choose to leave the Order, he was forced to. And it's sort of implied by what Kavar and Zez-Kai-El say that it was only to give him a chance to recover from what happened at Malachor.. Since the Lost were ones that chose to leave the Order because they didn't feel it suited them, I don't think that the Exile would count because he didn't have a choice. And some of the dialouge options show that it's possible that he still considers himself a Jedi.

True, but it was the closest I could think of. Not a perfect example, though.

I picked Jedi. With the other options, there is too much temptation to use the Dark Side to satisfy my most cruel, ugly desires. If I did become a Jedi, I would probably not be one of the ones that gets sent to other worlds to fight the enemies of the Republic. More likely, I'd spend much of my career doing research about the Force, working in the library and teaching.

There is a former Jedi who left the order before the Clone Wars and become an officer during the war. I forget his name, but he's in Last of the Jedi.

I would personally turn down the Force, because neither option is palatable to me.

Power corrupts. This is almost universally true, and to believe that it wouldn't apply to me would seem somewhat arrogant of myself. I know I have flaws. Furthermore, we've been consistently told that the Dark Side consumes you. I would not want to take the great risk of becoming a monster and hurting the ones I love. Hence I would not become a Sith nor dabble in the Dark Side.

Being a Jedi is just as bad because it means you're never supposed to be attached to anyone in the first place, and I have no desire to lead such a life. Yeah, sure, casual sex, whatever... that might work for some people, but I don't think I could get used to noncommittal sex.

Frankly, for me, the Force would almost certainly be a lose/lose situation.

Jolee Bindo seemed to manage to be balanced between light and dark fairly successfully. I would attempt to follow my own path.
"Of course the people don't want war. But after all, it's the leaders of the country who determine the policy, and it's always a simple matter to drag the people along whether it's a democracy, a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism, and exposing the country to greater danger." Herman Goering at the Nuremberg trials

I'd be a Jedi. It seems far more fulfilling.

Chart my own course. I don't believe the purity of Jedi, nor the "evil" of the Sith. I'd use both honestly.

The Sith can arrange this...which is why they win.

er...until that bastard kid shows up, at least. Thousands of years of hiding and plotting, two decades plus of galactic domination, and its brought down by a whiny kid with a robot hand...

I'd be a Sith. I reckon that one of the female Sith in the past must have found a way to look youthful for her entire life. Hey! I'm vain! I want to be some hot 90-year old who looks like she's about 25.

Yeah, sure there's the chance that I'll die young at the hands of my master, but hey, at least I'll leave a good-looking corpse, and in the end, that's the important thing. :)

I'll probaly end in dark side sooner or later, so better start as a Sith from day one and offtopic, how many diffrent ways there's is misspell Kashyyyk, since I have not seen it spelled even once the correct way (post-ROTS).

Personally, I would choose the Jedi route (especially if they can have casual sex). I don't particularly trust my own ability to resist using the darker abilities of the force for political or economic gain.

One thing about the Sith, is that there are no force-users in the movie who are able to both delve deep into the Dark side and come back without rejecting the dark side (Vader) and it's use. As for the middle option, the temptation to use the easier power would probably become overwhelming over time, particularly since the dark side seems to grow strong in areas of passion and outrage.

still if you could handle the temptaions... i think the power in the force from using both sides would be stronger than either side could come up with...now on what you do with it, thats an interesting dilema...

Neither. Mastery of the force is a fool's game, which requires the student to completely dehumanize themselves for the sake of power. The very methods required for mastering either end of the force require you to surrender who you are completely, and fucked if I'm gonna do that.

I'll take a trusty blaster rather than some ancient religion, thank you.

Never played the KOTOR games, have you? The dark side makes you look like hell, but in KOTOR2, if you're light sided, one of the characters talks about how your appearance hasn't changed a bit in 10 years or so.

Yeah, but if you have potent force power, you probably aren't going to be just "left alone." Somebody - whether the Jedi, or the Sith, or the Force, or simply the Casino owners wondering why you get such good gambling odds- is going to try to fuck with you.

Given he has the stress of seeing his entire order slaughtered, his best friend turn evil and everyone he knows and care about either dead or in hiding.

I dunno, maybe it was the rough desert winds.

And to the topic. Neither. Sith is becoming a power hungry monster, a Jedi is becoming a near relgious fantatic.
