I haven't seen a thread discussing this particular brand of lunacy, so here you go.

For those unfamiliar with the NoI, be sure to check this out.

Basically, it is a rabidly racist cult who thinks that their founder, WD Fard was God incarnate, and who believe that white people are the devil.

yes. They have also moved somewhat away from cultist moonbattery towards Islamic fundamentalist moonbattery (joy!)

IIRC Elijah Mohamed sort of made most of that up as he went along ....more as a political/social, finger in Whitey's eye, movement .

He fell out with Malcolm X when the later went to Mecca and spoke with real bona fide Muslims...imagine his surprise

I think that Mohamed’s sons is now leading the movement towards a mainstream Islam sorta but there was a splinter group under Farrakhan still teaching to old loony bits.

I find it bizarre that any black Americans converted to Islam ever, regardless of the sect. Don't they realize that the Muslims were enslaving their people long before the Europeans caught on to it? If you're trying to spite the white man or get back to your roots, Islam isn't the way to go. But I guess its easier than trying to reaserch a native faith.

Yeah, before going to Mecca, he didn't realize that there were white muslims. After meeting "blonde-haired, blued-eyed men I could call my brothers." He returned to the United States with a new outlook on integration.

To clarify my previous post, before going to Mecca, after Malcom X's pilgrimage to Mecca, Malcolm rejected his former separatist beliefs and advocated world brotherhood.

A lot of muslims consider the nation of Islam to be a heretical cult because of the Nation of Islam rewriting of history and the Koran.

Islam doesn't have sects, just two school of thoughts of who was the proper Caliph and blood feud that's been going on for over a thousand years.
