I thought one of the funky, alien jedi masters was a woman. :?

You know, I think the movie had as many castrati characters as women.
Neither Grievous nor Darth Vader (in the suit) had genitals.

There were fem-bots, I mean human female shaped droids  present in a few scenes. At least not all droids have male personalities. It is unfortunate Mon Mothma's scenes were cut, it would have firmed up the political aspects a bit better I think.

I could have sworn I sawn Luminara on Kashyyk, right when we first see the clones preparing. She is standing on the ground near the bottom of the screen as a transport flies above her. Around her are several clones.(Black robes with funny hat/hair, right?)

I haven't read the novelization, but I thought one of the Jedi who went to arrest Palpatine looked very feminine (in an alien sort of way).

As for the overall lack of female characters I really didn't notice it. Padme played critical roles in the first two movies, and certainly held her own in combat (hell, she survived the Geonosis battle while many Jedi were killed). She was also a big enough threat to warrant an assasination attempt.

To continue with other females, Padme's bodyguard was quite willing to give her life to protect Padme, the assasin at the begining of AoTC was female, Naboo appears to be ruled (or at least figureheaded) by a Queen.

What this movie did NOT do was paint the female character(s) as weak, mindless, etc... Padme, at least 7 mo pregnant, flew out to a remote lava covered planet to find out what was happening to her hubby, and then basically told him "fuck off" when it became apparent he had slipped to the dark side.

So this happens to be an action movie which doesn't have the (now cliche) ass kicking female who is superior to her male companions in nearly every way. *shrug* I think your friend's complaint is rather pointless. Would she have been mollified if an extra Jedi Master was female? I getting the impression that wouldn't have been enough.

She didn't say "fuck off"- she was crying and basically couldn't believe what she was hearing, but she obviously still felt for him. I mean come on, at no point did Anakin deny killing Younglings, and she asks him to run away with her- yeah, let's go raise our kids somewhere far away, child-murderer.

Don't forget that she also used her dying breath to tell Obi-Wan that there was still good in Vader.

As others have said, she's blowing the whole Eve angle WAY out of proportion, if for no other reason than Eve took Adam to the darkside whereas Padme was trying her damndest to make Anakin NOT turn.

Okay, if both Eeth Koth and Adi Gallia bought it in previous films, why did they pointlessly recycle both looks? Very irksome.

On topic- should've kept the cut scenes with Mon Mothma. However, the prime story here was always Anakin and Obi Wan. Everything else was decoration and context.

Why is there an absolute need for women to be in the script anyway? And why must we expect to see an even ratio of men to women? Is it realistic to expect that, especially when the movie in question is set during a time of war? Despite whatever the latest fem-nazis have to say, there are many areas where women are inferior to men, and war is one of them. They're weaker, have poorer reflexes on average and their presence can have the effect of distracting their male comrades from their primary task. After all, if you were in the Clone Trooper squad that the sexy blue-skinned Twi'lek jedi was in, would you honestly not be focussing some of your attention on her arse?

Actually Obi Wan and a few others refer to him as he. So unless he was just ignoring them and not correcting, I'm betting he's a guy of whatever race he's from.

The mere fact that Stravo's friend used the "walking womb" line tells you about her mentality. She may not be a full-blown feminazi, but she has a junior membership in the club. Hey guess what, dumb-fuck: a woman who is pregnant can and often does allow it to dominate her perception of herself and her choices, and why the fuck shouldn't she? She's got a fucking human being growing inside of her; what kind of blithering idiot or self-absorbed fucktard would not allow this to become the dominant factor in her life?

I'd like to pitch in and state that if women can get all hissy and bitchy because their pies start leaking blood, then why the fuck can't they get all wimpy and sad when their tummies are bloated because of a baby floating inside it?

It just so happens that this particular part of the ongoing story (of which two episodes before it and three after have been laid down and set in stone) doesn't include any female lead characters, except one that has already been determined to be pregnant during the particular time period in which the story takes place.

There's no "motive", "chauvinistic" or otherwise, behind it, despite what feminazis would like to imagine.

And as Darth Wong pointed out, they've clearly never carried a child to term before, if they expect Padme to have the mindset and the physical willingness to go about risking herself and her child (two, actually) by engaging in all sorts of blaster-slinging misadventures.

Btw, the reason why Aayla is caught flat-footed is probably because of her friendship with Commander Bly, which is the closest shown except perhaps Obi-Wan and Oddball. Fortunately for Obi-Wan, he wasn't that close to Oddball's unit when General Order 66 came through.
Anyway, Plo Koon and Quinlan Vos died like bitches too and nobody complained, while Ki-Adi-Mundi merely extended his life by roughly three seconds.

I just saw ROTS for the third time today so now I'm more certain on the appearance of female Jedi (at least, Barris Offee).

Barris was on Kashyyyk. I recognized the hood/headdress she wears. Luminara was nowhere to be seen.
