Veteran Mold/Sculptor/Plastic/Fiberglass Artists?

Post by McC »

Anyone here a veteran of mold-making, sculpting, or working with plastic or fiberglass? I'm pondering embarking on scratch-building stormtrooper armor. I've already ordered this book, which is said by just about everyone to be the de facto Bible for this sort of thing, but it won't be here for another few days, so I'm curious if there's any first-hand vets that know this stuff.

I can sculpt, but I have no experience with anything of this sort so I doubt I'd be useful. Sorry.
"The rest of the poem plays upon that pun. On the contrary, says Catullus, although my verses are soft (molliculi ac parum pudici in line 8, reversing the play on words), they can arouse even limp old men. Should Furius and Aurelius have any remaining doubts about Catullus' virility, he offers to fuck them anally and orally to prove otherwise." - Catullus 16, Wikipedia

I used to be a plaster pattern maker, I've dealt with more plaster casts, and fiberglass than I care to think about.

Looks like that book contains more info than my memories could provide, however. And more useful, too; casting 1/1 scale aircraft parts in plaster, from plaster models, doesn't have that much similarity to casting from latex, but if there's any specific questions I can asnwer I'll be more than happy to do so.
