What were these SW figurines?

Post by Superman »

First I'll explain the story behind them. When I was young, probably about the time ROTJ came out, I collected a few proofs of purchase from Star Wars figures so that I could send away for the Emperor. He required a few proofs of purchase plus shipping... I am guessing you couldn't just buy him at the store. Anyway, the company took a super long ass time to send me the Emp, so when they finally did, they also gave me a bunch of small pewter (I think) statues as an apology for taking so long. I don't know what happened to them, but I'll try to describe them. If anyone can identify them, that would be great.

Ok, first I remember that many of them were storm troopers from Hoth. I think all of them were from Empire Strikes Back because I think (not positive) I remember Luke in his snow gear. They were all probably only an inch tall and they were fully painted. There were probably ten or so in this set. Now, I'm sure these are worth a million dollars because I had to get them directly from the company and they were sent as an apology for taking so long. I've never seen them in a store.

Do these sound familiar to anyone at all? Any ideas?

Oh, I THINK they were pewter... They could have been some kind of ceramic figurines.

I do seem to remember them arriving in plastic bags like this

I am not 100% sure, but I think those might be it...

Damn, how much are they worth now?

Spanky, the second link is not it. They were fully colored and painted. The first one looks more like them.

The ones in the second link are the same thing, they're just not painted. I just put that up because they were closeups.

They should be worth about five dollars each, it seems.

Wow. I've been wondering about those for years.

I wonder why some were painted and some were not.

It's possible the minis displayed have been stripped of paint.

Actually, one of those pages says that they're most likely unpainted merchandise from when the product line was given the axe, so they were left unpainted at the time.

Holy shit!

One of my first memories is of the Bespin set.

I was 2 years old and in the hospital for surgery, and my parents brought me the toys so I could play with them. I remember really enjoying them, but being too weak to play very much. I don't recall ever seeing them again after the hospital, so they were either stolen or thrown out because they would have been a choking hazard for my baby brother.

This really takes me back...
