"You say that it is your custom to burn widows. Very well. We also have a custom: when men burn a woman alive, we tie a rope around their necks and we hang them. Build your funeral pyre; beside it, my carpenters will build a gallows. You may follow your custom. And then we will follow ours."- General Sir Charles Napier

Electric shocking body rocking beat streeting me to death"

IIRC, it was Murray Head who performed that song.'One Night in Bangkok' by the Pet Shop Boys (?)
Also, I believe it was written by a couple of former members of ABBA.

Comments? The numbers don't represent any order for the CDs; I just wanted to number them so I knew how many I had for each.

I violently protest 'Hold Me Now', 'Relax' and 'Take On Me' being cheese but otherwise I agree.
Not my choice but definitely a viable one.

I cannot BELIEVE no one has mentioned Peter Schilling. Major Tom, anyone?! That's THE song that embodies the entire sentiment of the 80's. Ethereal, yet pulsing beat, a futuristic theme. Remember? The 80s people, SPACE WAS NEW! Anything was possible, we'd all have robots by the year 2000. Man, no song really captures the essence of the 80's quite like that song.

No he isn't. The one you're thinking about is by David Bowie, and almost certainly inspired the Peter Schilling one. The one Chardok's talking about is german.Mrs Kendall wrote:You're talking about ... Ground Control to Major Tom... countdown... engines on...
Right? (kinda embarrassed I didn't think of that one.)
And hey, I didn't know I was allowed to add local stuff. That list would have easily been twice as long. At least.

I haven't seen 99 Red Balloons by Nena mentioned yet.
99 Red Balloons
You and I in a little toy shop
Buy a bag of balloons with the money we've got
Set them free at the break of dawn
'till one by one they were gone
Back at base, sparks in the software
Flash the message "something's out there"
Floating in the summer sky
Ninety nine red balloons go by
Ninety nine red balloons
Floating in the summer sky
Panic bells, it's red alert
There's something here from somewhere else
The war machine springs to life
Opens up one eager eye
And focusing it on the sky
The ninety nine red balloons go by
Ninety nine decisions treat
Ninety nine ministers meet
To worry, worry, super scurry
Call the troops out in a hurry
This is what we've waited for
This is it boys, this is war
The President is on the line
As Ninety nine red balloons go by
Ninety nine knights of the air
Ride super high-tech jet fighters
Everyone's a super hero
Everyone's a Captain Kirk
With orders to identify
To clarify and classify
Scramble in the summer sky
Ninety nine red balloons go by
As ninety nine red balloons go by
Ninety nine dreams I have had
In every one a red balloon
It's all over and I'm standing pretty
In this dust that was a city
If i could find a souvenir
Just to prove the world was here
And here is a red balloon
I think of you and let it go

"You say that it is your custom to burn widows. Very well. We also have a custom: when men burn a woman alive, we tie a rope around their necks and we hang them. Build your funeral pyre; beside it, my carpenters will build a gallows. You may follow your custom. And then we will follow ours."- General Sir Charles Napier
