Oh, I have an idea about Voyager's redemption

Post by bozman »

Let's just make a new final episode that reveals the fact that Janeway was actually a Pakled wearing lots and lots of makeup! Anyone remember them (they were the really dumb aliens that kidnapped Geordi on TNG: "We are smart! Our ship is broken")

Janeway is revealed to be a Pakled, Neelix is actually a... ummm... is there anything worse than a Talaxian? Anyway, Tuvok is revealed to be the Vulcan equivalent of having Down's syndrome, Ensign Kim could actually be Wesley in disguise...

Anyone have any more ideas?

Kirk wakes up and goes "Damn, what a funky dream." Then he gets up for duty aboard the one and only Enterprise.

Seriously, Chakotay should actually do something. Torres should get over her angst. And Kim should get to do something. He has balls now, two of them, and they're made of brass. He should save the ship instead of being the ship's newbie. That would be cool.

Oh and Janeway should get spaced.

Where did the term "spaced" originally come from, btw?

I don't know. Probably some old sci-fi as a method of execution that just got picked up. I tried looking it up, but didn't find anything on the Internet.

Not sure of where the term was first used. On B5, spacing was a form of execution. The condemned was sent of an airlock without a spacesuit and left to die in space.

I know the first place I've seen it was in Heinlein's books. It's older than B5, i know that.

The final episode I dreamed of...

Post by Patrick Degan »

...was one in which Reg Barclay finally manages to dig Lewis Zimmerman out of a malfunctioning holodeck on Jupiter. The episode would reveal the truth behind the entire series: that the two computer engineers had been working secretly on a special psychological simulation testing stress-response and adaptability to finding yourself on a ship cut off from the Federation and on which the entire chain of command is fucked-up —with an imbecile of a captain subject to violent mood swings, an idiot first officer, and no other senior officer with either the power or rationality to provide any check or balance on the captain's power, and a crew utterly dependent upon these people for their only chance for survival. The object of the exercise would be to provoke the response which would lead the test subject to attempt to make a mutiny aboard a Federation starship.

But as is the usual case, the holodeck's failure-proof technology failed, and Zimmerman wound up trapped in a simulation gone wild. And by the time Barclay and the other technicians get the hatches open, it's far too late. They have to carry a drooling Zimmerman out of the chamber on a stretcher; his mind destroyed after sustained mental assault from the sheer idiocy of the Janeway programme.

In fact, that would have made an ideal title: "The Janeway Programme".

Has a nice Robert-Ludlum-esque feel to it, don't you think...?

That would have been a great ending, Kirk and the Enterprise-Nil [Refit], now those were TGOD's (The Good Old Days), Blasting Any Alien that dared to give him a funny look, Spock I could go on all night, but I won't, Hail Kirk as the King Baby

The ideal redemption is of course Kirk and Co. coming out of nowhere, making a fancy speech ("You've destroyed all credibility that the franchise had. We cannot allow you to continue in this fashion.") and then blasting Voyager all to hell.

Nah. Have Voyager run into the Mirror Universe, whose badass Borg promptly blow the hippie crew to hell :)

I'm honestly sick of the Borg. They've been hideously overused.

Misused, that is. I'm definately no fan of the "Yo, we're so badass that we negociate with a ship that we outnumber 1000:1..." Voyager-era Borg.

To redeem Voyager, they should show an episode where everyone at B&B is executed. After that, someone with writing skills greater than that of B&B, such as my cat, will take over, and make the series better.

Yes but can your cat spell "annular confinement," because if it cannot, my guinea pig can.
