A judge in Kentucky is giving drug and alcohol offenders a new 'choice'. Besides the usual sentences of a few days in jail and/or treatment, now people are given the option to attend 10 church services! Apparantly you can go to any church/worship you want, which may be why he is getting away with this. Even if he could bring religion into the courtroom, it seems unfair to offer a theistic choice to those who aren't. Would the God-believers in this country even consider that a punishment? I know most don't actually regularly attend, but offering one of faith a sentence of church seems like offering me a sentence of visiting the Air and Space Museum!
I guess even I'd pick the 10 church services....but what if I embarrassed the congregation by posing tough questions and it got back to the Judge? He would probably find me in contempt!
