we can always hope

the point was that Ryloth could forced tpo drug and slave trade to maintain it economy just like Afganistan was forced to use drug trade (though the reason why they're forced to do this could be different).

We can hope not - non-consentual slavery is bad mmkay :P . I believe the idea is that Ryloth has nothing of value - no minerals, and little food - but the Ryll and its women.

The problem with female twileks are that most are from Ryloth, a very patriarchal ruled plannet. Many of the males tend to drug the females to make them more submissive, causing them to become dancers and slaves.

This sounds like a discussion as a whole that concerns the concept of species developing/evolving in responce to galactic influence.

Saxton's got a thread on that:
http://www.theforce.net/swtc/humans.html

Basically, Ryloth's only major export besides Ryll are slaves, mostly female. Therefore, over the millenia the individuals and families with traits more resembling galactic (ie human) standards, the more prevalent and prosperous they are and provide for their descendants' success.

Same deal with Falleen and perhaps Togruta (of which Shak-Ti is the only example I know of, though WotC implies they only come in white & red due to camouflage with their planet's fauna), while to a lesser extent the facial features of the Cathar, probably the arms of the Saurin (subspecies of Trandoshan), as perhaps many other prevalent species in the galaxy with otherwise inexplicably identical anthropormorphic features. You're less likely to buy Corellian starships, SoroSuub blasters, and spread accross the galaxy if you're stuck with lobster claws afterall. :P

So, the whole interspecies off-spring is possible?

I'll just shut up and read the linked article.

depend on what do by "interspecies", for example a base line Human and Near Human could possibly have children, but a human and a Mon Calmari could never have children.

Pseudo human belong Mon Calmari category (while they look human their genetic are different).

No, Mon Cal are technically beyond psuedo-human. Twi'leks are a better example of psuedo-humans.

missed the point, which was dispite looking like humans pseudo human have as much in common with true humans as the Mon Calmari (which is nil).

I chose a clearly non-human species for a purpose (to show that while some "species" can reproduce this ain't trek were two species can have children together if they both are sentient).

One important thing to note:

As Darth Maul and the EU have proven, there are ways to change your skin color in the SW galaxy. Be it tatoos or the powder (or was it lotion) mentioned in I, Jedi, skin tone can be pigmented for human (and near-human) species with relative ease.

So, if you have a cadre of drugged-to-the-gills Twi'lek dancing girl slaves, and you think they'd bring in more money if they were purple or orange, they can be.

So far as natural color, I think blue (especially lighter shades) and green are the most common.

What I'd like to know is why so many of the Twi'lek women seem to wear that leather head thingy around their face and over their ears. It's like something they had on Jabba's dancing girl just spiralled into a brain bug.

In-universe, I have no idea. Out-universe, it greatly simplifies the make-up process, since the headpiece hides the seams on their lekku.

I would guess it's got some kind of cultural significance, or maybe just a popular/important shape.

And I think the most common colors are dull shades of tan, yellow, and yellow-green. I recall blue being almost as 'valuable' as red.

I dispute parts of Saxton's hypothesis.

Attractive female Twi'Leks would be sold as slaves off-world, which prevents them from propogating their traits in the future generations of their community.

Anyway, check both pages of this thread for more stuff on that.

Unless they get sold back, or the lease ends or something, when they're age is showing and they start having kids then.
