Now that I think of it, I seem to recall the CIS having strongholds in a satillite galaxy( I dont remember where I heard that though.)

Ah, then I guess "Intergalactic Banking Clan" can be taken literally.. there are multiple galaxies involved. Well, one big one and two minor ones, anyway.
And as a completely unrelated aside, repeating what I said on another recent thread, I'd like to see the spinning disc in ESB changed to a realistic view of a spiral galaxy, plus the two satellite galaxies (or possibly from one of the satellite galaxies, with the other one visible) in some super duper special reremastered edition.

It was supposed to be the galaxy. Now, re-read my previous post with this in mind.

You are, of course, correct and that was a dumb mistake on my part.Cykeisme wrote:"c" is a constant that denotes the velocity of light. It's not a unit of measurement of length.
Just pointing it out
So, in light of the newer posts, it does seem that there has been exploration outside of the galaxy to close, smaller galaxies. It just doesn't seem right that this is all they've done. Think back through the history of the earth, people would sit on boats for months and months traveling all over the world, and they'd do so with much less capacity to look ahead to where they were going. I'd think among the trillions and trillions of living beings in the galaxy someone would have decided to take the plunge and travel to a large neighboring galaxy.
Anyway, that is how it seems to me.

Well, I'm not sure you can draw an analogy between exploring outside your village, country or planet and exploring outside your galaxy.
With the former, there are new and interesting things to discover.. but once an entire galaxy is you back yard, do you really need another galaxy?

The part about curious adventurers makes sense.. in a galaxy with a population that big, and FTL travel being so fast and so common, there must have been some people who have tried.Jason wrote:There would surely be plenty of people with an adventurous spirit who just wanted to go for the sake of exploration. Businesses would likely go to find valuable resources and more markets for their products. There ought to be more than enough motivation to spur this sort of thing.
Finding resources probably isn't really valid though. A galaxy is a large enough place that your scope becomes sort of homogenous. Even in another galaxy, the proportions of elements is going to be the same. Additionally, in the SW galaxy itself, there's still millions, if not billions of untapped uninhabited systems.
The cost of natural resources in SW most likely stems from extraction and processing, not from rarity.
I'm kinda stuck with the impression that the SW galaxy is so damn big with so damn much of everything, that from any individual's or organization's point of view, you're just not going to hit the limit for anything you need.. even markets for goods.
No dice. That couldn't be one of the smaller galaxies either. The angular velocity of the spin precludes that possibility. That thing simlpy cannot be a galaxy of any size.LaserRifleofDoom wrote:Perhpas the thing they're looking at in ESB isn't the main galaxy, it's one of the smaller ones. It seems more likely than them getting far enough away from the galaxy to see the whole thing.

IIRC in the ICS (I'd have to double check when I get home) there's a reference to the IGBC having a space station or something outside of the Wars galaxy.Cykeisme wrote:Ah, then I guess "Intergalactic Banking Clan" can be taken literally.. there are multiple galaxies involved. Not surprising, tbh.. given the capabilities of their technology, constructing and maintaining an extragalactic space station is a trivialty.

I got it. It's in the ROTS ICS, page 15.
It's way at the bottom of the page.Tide of Progress XII hails from a secret Banking Clan treasury space station halfway between the galactic spiral and its nearest dwarf satellite galaxy.

Cool, and evidence in text of the satellite galaxies we saw on Jedi Archive holographic starmap, to boot.
