You're right. SDN won't accept bitmaps. @The Jazz Intern: in Paint, save your file as a png. That'll keep the file clarity (jpegs muddy it up) and keep the file at a reasonable size.

Now, I was thinking about the radiator panels. One could easily put the panels against the pod, rather than mounted on pylons. At any rate, I like the concept.

Well, mines not angled like it's steamlined but get a closed paper cylinder and throw it compared to a paper airplane. Which gets more distance? I'm going to guess mine. I'm not dissing anybodys designs, I just don't want someone to tell me mine sucks for that.
Yeah, I guess your right. But it helps in atmosphere. Which, Why don't fighters like B-wings expeirnce turbulance and/or damage when moving through atmosphere.
What about tie fighters? some are streamlined and un-bulky wimpyified enough to go through atmosphere (X-1, tie interceptor, and Andavced) but what about the normal tie fighter (un shielded)?
Normal TIEs may not (even without shields, they could still fly, albeit with limited performance). Later TIEs seem to have at least some form of shielding, so their performance may be improved.
RedImperator wrote:Bog standard TIEs do the job just fine. There's already a TIE variant for every concievable need. The Rebels might need something between the X-wing and the B-wing, to replace the Y-wing--a good, fast fighter/bomber of some kind, maybe.
Isn't that the E-Wing? 3 Laser cannons and 16 Proton torpedoes? Fast and manouverable? It clearly didn't replace the X-Wing as the space supperority fighter of choice, but I thought it replaced the Y-Wing as the fighter bomber craft. Somewhat faster and better able to fight enemy strike craft though.
As an aside, I maintain that it is necessary for all Star Wars spacecraft have some minimal shielding for a host of reasons (micrometeorites, wash from their own ion engines etc). The point is that TIE Fighters lack combat-rated deflectors, but somehow that got blown out of proportion into "no shields at all".
Aanyway, that mandatory shielding would help improve the aerodynamic characteristics of all craft, including TIEs.
Yes, it's just my own idea on things, but I'm a stubborn mofo.
