A reply from the time cube guy...
I sent an email to the time cube site and actually got a reply. If anyone doesn't know what this is, here is the link:
http://www.timecube.com
Obviously the guy is out of his mind if sincere, so I decided to pull his chain:
Your time cube site is very funny! One has to wonder if anybody actually takes it seriously and not as the obvious joke that it is. I suppose that isn't too likely; stupid people are common, but those who would believe this hilarity as the truth would have to be borderline mentally retarded.
>Thanks
> for the humor!
I guess he didn't like my analysis of his 'work' and sent me this:
"It is unlawful to kill a person, but it is not IMMORAL to kill an idiot who ignores the antipodes of Cubic Creation. Legally, I can only place a Cubic CURSE upon you for the rest of your life - for you to THINK about when you laugh. A curse falls within free speech.
>
>Gene Ray, Cubic and Wisest Human"
Now I'm not sure if it is all a spoof or if he really should be in padded room......it has to be one or the other!

He mentioned the burial of nuclear waste by the United States government many times on the page that you provided. I believe it is his objective to create opposition to the burial of nuclear waste, and he uses the time cube angle so that he will not seem to be a political activist. That is my hypothesis.

I had thought that maybe this guy had a defect that caused him to think in four dimensions, and he simply doesn't understand how to explain what's in his head to the rest of us. I thought that maybe his wacky time cube thing was just him trying to describe a 4-d analogue of a cube, but I e-mailed him about it, and it's quite apparent that he's delusional... maybe a bit of a psychopath.

He’s just nuts man, he isn’t an activist. He’s just an insane man who needs some mental help.Mephistopheles wrote:He mentioned the burial of nuclear waste by the United States government many times on the page that you provided. How does he fund his site if he is crazy? Websites cost money to maintain. A crazy man would not be able to attain or hold employment with any company for a protracted period. However, I suppose that he could be on welfare.Drunk Monkey wrote:He’s just nuts man, he isn’t an activist. If supershadow can stay up this man can. Supershadow is a delusional freak who honestly thinks GL is his bitch, and hasn’t gotten sued by Lucas or has no sign of employment. This cube guy could easily be funded by relatives who feel sorry for the man.Mephistopheles wrote:How does he fund his site if he is crazy? Websites cost money to maintain. There are always low-wage jobs. And even if you don't have that, you can easily get a hosting solution even on minimum wages. It all has to do with what you're prepared to sacrifice to get the message out.Mephistopheles wrote:How does he fund his site if he is crazy? Websites cost money to maintain.
Me, I use my Internet connection and have my own server. It's not that hard.

This guy is just nuts. He goes on and on about how words are evil... I suppose we'd be better off just scratching ourselves and grunting at each other over scraps of food?
He's seriously paranoid, too. He seriously thinks people are trying to silence his message of Cubic Sal(i)vation.

I bet he'll actually make something of that and call you the cubic anti-christ.

That's my theory too.Zero132132 wrote:I had thought that maybe this guy had a defect that caused him to think in four dimensions, and he simply doesn't understand how to explain what's in his head to the rest of us.
I did a little research on him and he's been a guest lecturer once or twice (mostly so they could see just how crazy he is). They say he seems a lot more reasonable in person.

That being said I swear that Time Cube is a hoax and that he just acts that crazy for fun, like SuperShadow...

When people say that they can feel their brains rotting away when reading something immensely stupid, I will know that it's not exclusively a figure of speech.
It's interesting (and destructive) to think that there is a remote posibility that he's somehow enlightened and right, and we're all unable to percieve his genius. It wouldn't affect me, either way.
Well, back to being an educated stupid...

A few good links for those interested in Timecube:
Here's one guy's blog account of the lecture and question session at Georgia Tech. The highlight for me: One of the students brought up the point about cubes actually having eight corners as opposed to four. Here's the exchange:
Here's the unofficial Timecube cardgame, and here's a hilarious parody site, Nature's Harmonious Gamecube. Enjoy!

Question: You were talking about the cube having four corners. Doesn’t it have 8? It has 8 tri-corners, which equals 24, same as 6 times 4. Teacher in a classroom tells a student to go to the corner, how many choices do you have? Questioner response: What about those corners up there? (On the ceiling.) Response: You don’t go up there.
