Judging by the continuous high flow of energy from a saber, and the tendancy of shields to be overloaded by energy en mass, do the math. The Droideka's were only effective when at a distance because of their rapid fire. Remember in PM when a single shot from a Naboo Fighter's TL took out the droids? Saber's can put that out if held against the shield.
Your saying a lightsaber strike packs the energy of an anti-starfighter laser blast? If this is true, then why isnt Darth Vader blown apart when Luke hits him in the shoulder, or Gui-Gon when Maul impales him?
In any event, the power and effect of Droideka shields are throughly described, in both Clone Wars EU and the ROTS novelization.

I never said anything about simple strikes. I said if held... And the TL shot both blew threw the shields and scattered the droid. I'm just talking about the energy required to overload the shields. And, yet again PM references, don't anakin's stray shots splash over the walls leaving scorch marks, where-as a saber liquifies them?

How could a Jedi apply their saber to the shield long enough to break it without get blasted by the droids blaster cannons, or the ones on it's companions? It is not practical. A far more effective method is to get fairly close to the droideka and force push it until it stumbles back into its own shield, thus melting it.

OK, a Naboo SF's TL bolt contacted the shields on a droid for, let's say, .001 of a second, and utterly destroyed it. Would you say that a saber only has .001 the power of a TL? And all a Jedi would have to do is take the droid from the back. They don't turn around very fast when depolyed.

Hmm, an interesting point. Nonetheless, it doesnt seem right, and doesnt match up with several EU and novelization statements. However, scientifically I am not knoweldgable enough to be refute your assertion adequetly, so I shall conceed the point until someone else can rationalize it.
