Dr. Doom VS. Darth Vader

In many ways they are so similar: Both are evil, both are horribly scared, both wear masks and armor, both are mamas boys. Who takes this fight in a) hand to hand b) melee weapons and c) anything goes, and why?

My take:

a) DOOM! Hell the guy once kill an african lion unarmed, and he was naked at the time. Oh and he does have that nuclear powered iron man level armor.

b) Vader! Dooms not much into melee weapons, swords are so gouche.

c) DOOM! Hmm...the Marvel universes second most powerful sorcer, and he so smart he built a time machine! You do the math.

It wouldn't be Doom fighting, it would be one of his robots, which he would have switched with himself while no one was looking.

It depends at which point in time. Of course, at Doom's max that's true. But given a nearer human level of power, it becomes more of a topic for discussion.

It's true Dr. Doom at his height can defeat about anyone. On a normal level however, I would give Darth Vader a slim to marginal chance of victory in a head to head battle with no preptime.

THE PULSE: How do you view Frank Castle? What makes him tick?

GARTH ENNIS: He's as mad as a snake, albeit in a calm, controlled sort of way. He likes killing people, that's what makes him tick.

THE PULSE: How is the Punisher different from say Batman? Both saw their families die and both "fight crime" in a way as a result. Why is Frank's method so drastic?

ENNIS: They're products of their time. Batman was born of a slightly more innocent age, when people had more faith in the system set up to protect them. By the early '70s, when the Punisher was created, you've got widespread disillusionment with the law: government, courts, cops, the whole shebang. There's a sense that the innocent can't be protected, that the guilty will get away with their crimes. Enter Frank Castle, offering a brand of justice about as final as it gets.

THE PULSE: Does the Punisher have survivors guilt? If so, is that why he risks his life so many times on "no win" type of actions? Why does he want to die?

ENNIS: Frank's addiction to risk is that of the adrenaline junkie, a restlessness born of a life spent in combat. I don't think he wants to die; he's got too much killing left to do. Mind you, when his time does come, I doubt you'll see much begging for mercy.

THE PULSE: What aspects of this character do you like best?

ENNIS: The action, the gallows humor, the essential simplicity of the character. And his reliability: he never changes or develops, his responses are completely set.

THE PULSE: What inspires you while working on the Punisher?

ENNIS: Misanthropy.

THE PULSE: What other members of the cast do you enjoy writing and exploring/fleshing out?

ENNIS: Soap. Beyond that, no-one: they all get killed before they have time to be fleshed out. Which in itself is a very healthy thing for a writer- you have to keep coming up with fresh characters, you can't just resort to the regular cast of villains.

Actually amazingly enough as well...Ennis skips over the few of the Avengers as well.

That and and the way he kills the Hulk is classic...something actually intelligent as well...observe the beastie, then kill him when he's Banner.

Overall Ennis skips over most of the Godlike one(the ones who are just human with uber powers), shows only the ones that can feasibly killed, then ends it how it should.

The only reason he accomplished this was through extreme amounts of Plot and Character induced stupidity and leaps of logic and the Punisher Kills the Marvel Universe WAS a non continuity alternate history type of thing.

In the main comic continuity, the Punisher is a nod below street level heros like DareDevil when it comes to pure combat capability.

Frank can actually go hand to hand with many of Marvel best hand to hand and I'd wager the only pure human better than him, Marvel wise is Captain America.

Just because he doesn't have some power doesn't mean he's a pushover.
