All Dalaa's losses to Kyp Durron and the SUncrusher are forgivable. He is a more powerful Jedi than Luke (as stupid as that is) and his ship, the suncrusher, could survive a direct hit by the Death Star superlaser could blow up solar systems. The SC rammed the ISD Dalaa lost at the Maw early on. It went straight through the bridge and came out without a scratch. The ISD then fell into a black hole. She lost to Ackbar because he recognized her tactics as the ones that Tarkin used. He just happened to be Tarkin's personal slave. Her loss in Darksaber over Yavin 4 was when Callista snuck aboard her SSD and blew up the back of the ship. She is an interesting character that could have been a great leader but was the victim of some horrid plot lines and unusually bad luck. And to her credit she put Pelleon in charge of the Empire.

The one decent thing she ever did.

Although I did like the way she did in all of those Imperial Warlords in Darksaber.

Those two actions alone probably saved the Empire, although they might have held on to the Deep Core longer. I never really got how they went from controlling most of the Deep Core to controlling a handful of systems in the farthest reaches of the Outer RIm.

Map making error?

Perhaps Kip destroyed most of their base in the deep core and they abandoned what was left to cut their losses.

No, because they still controlled the whole thing several years after the destruction of the Sun Crusher. And what happened to all the military might Dalaa had in Darksaber?

Presumably it was all destroyed or forced to retreat when the NR got its act togther, at least temporarily. After all, Dalaa's force was tiny, only a few dozen ISDs, over one hundred VSDs, and the Knighthammer.

Which was more than a match for the pitiful NR military at the time. And that is nothing to be sneezed at when it is used in a small concentrated area like the Deep Core. Don't forget that those were only the resources of three warlords, the rest of the Empire's resources weren't even mentioned, much less used. The NR would have been smeared if they had. They just thought Yavin 4 would be an easy target.

No, that was the entire non-defense fleet Dalaa had at her disposal. She used it for terror strikes and hit and run attacks, and there was no major fleet engament where the Reppublic could bring the brunt of their fleet against her before Yavin, where she was curb stomped (with the help of the Jedi of course.) The NR military might have been pitiful at that point, but they still were more than powerful enough to beat Dalaa in a direct campaign.

She lost the Knight Hammer (thanks to a ridiculous fluke), nearly destroyed the NR flagship in under ten minutes, lost three VSDs, and survived the battle. And that was with the Knight Hammer and twenty VSDs against the entire NR fleet! Of course she lost!! Has the other 80 VSDs and Pelleon's ISDs been at the battle, it would have been a differant story (especially if the Knight Hammer had to be taken out with regular ships instead of a Jedi kamikaze.

How was that the entire Republic fleet? As I recall, it was all they could scrape togther on extremely short notice, presumably only a few sector battle groups.

There were hundreds of NR ships. They had just over 2000 at the time of the peace treaty and even fewer right after DE. They has under 10 ships availible to take Coruscant! The NR military was tiny! An most of its fleet was small ships like the Corellian Corvettes, Corellian Gunships, and Nebulon Frigates. At the NR's height of military power, (during the VOng War) 900 ships represented the majority of the NR fleet.

As far as whether or not women served the Empire on the front lines, that's still a bit up in the air. We never see the regular Army, all we see are stormtroopers who we now know are somewhere around 80% clones. We know from the EU that females served in command and support roles in the Imperial military, and there are at least two instances of female fighter pilots I can think of. Kasan Moor was in the 121st TIE Interceptor Squadron, the "best of the best" and there are female TIE Bomber pilots in Force Commander.

I am refering to the 1st Battle of Coruscant, when they first took it from the Empire. And I meant at the time of Darksaber about the ships that made up the fleet.

At the Battle of Coruscant against the Vong, they had three battlegroups. That is less than 1500 ships. There were thousands of Vong ships, not NR ships. There were less than a hundred functioning NR ships in Bel Iblis' fleet group, and his had been the most powerful. Coruscant had been doomed from the start.

Scores and scores of reinforcements, Assault frigates, Corellian Corvettes, five more Mon Calamari star Cruisers, Loronar Strike cruisers, Carrack-class gunships

Hundreds my ass. And only five of them were actually Mon Cal ships, the rest were frigates and light craft. And this was to reinforce a single vessel. Overwhelming numbers yes, but not hundreds, and most were lesser ships.

And more than five scores goes into the hundreds. And they were reinforcing a task force led by the great Admiral Ackbar, containing Princess Leia and Han Solo, and protecting the Jedi Order. That is something very important to protect. And Mon Cals are completely overrated anyway.
