Was Anakin/Vader an over-rated Jedi/Sith loser?

Post by Rommie2006 »

Couple days back I was browsing the "SW Tech Commentaries" site I revisited the page on "Injuries of Darth Vader" which included some new material from ROTS.

I know Anakin is supposed to be the uber "chosen one" Jedi, and Vader was like the damn "cool" Sith (for many of us fans from that young age), but after reading at the analysis of Anakin/Vader's injuries... it suddenly struck me, What a loser he was!!!

For the most uber Jedi/Sith, he sustained the most serious injuries in the entire PT/OT. Granted, even the most powerful Jedi may lose an limb in a tough fight, but to put the facts together:

1)Vader's limbs are all cybernetic(very little natural flesh left).
2)Anakin lost 1 arm to Dooku.
3)Anakin lost 3 limbs to Obi-Wan (if not for the cybernetics he would have been a legless and armless weakling).
4)Vader lost 2 arms to Luke (if you buy the EU stuff)
5)Vader has severe breathing difficulties and speculatively some major spinal injuries.

Contrast this with Old Palps... not even a scratch!

Does anyone agree with me?

Anakin/Vader is constantly overcome with his own confidence which has always been his weakness. Taking too long to shoot Luke in the trench. Once again thinking that fear of him alone would command the blockade to act properly, and then again thinking Luke would just join him. Last but not least, RotJ is an entire example of this.

However, RotS in all it's forms seems to point to the fact, that at this point Anakin was the most powerful Force user of that time. For all thier records they believed he was the most powerful of all time.

Like I said though, I know some people who are the 'best' at what they do, and when you play into that part, you can usually over come them in some manner. Anakin/Vader was much the same way.

Most potential :banghead: .

After getting sliced to peices, killing his one reason to improve & being put into a permanent life support machine without most of his body,
He cinda lost something

Given time he could have becom more powerful than Yoda+Palpatine, but Obi-Wan "damaged" him when he wasnt nearly at the full power he could have reached if left unhindered.

Given how easily he owned Dooku I'd not under estimate Anakin. Palpatine believed thar Anakin had the potential to be stronger than any Jedi or Sith. Anakin was just unlucky and ended up handicapped.
