the things about inconsistencies is there's a lot of stuff that people think is inconsistent cause they think their explanation for piece of dialoge must be the only possible evidence and the characters must be all knowing and always thruthfull. So if the creator takes a different aproach he must pissing on canon.(end rant)

Yeah, some chick who could use the ALL, which was more powerful and useful then the Force. Supposedly Luke's mother could use the ALL, and therefore Luke was able to tap into it. In the end though, the search for his mother was a wild goose chase, and I couldn't give a flying fuck if the mention the ALL is just another aspect of the Force.Spanky The Dolphin wrote:Wasn't that part of the Black Fleet Crisis, where the whole Luke searching about his mother thing turned out to be just a wild goose chase?HemlockGrey wrote:I recall reading about some book where Luke visits his mother's homeworld. I've never actually picked up the book, but if anyone has, is the planet mentioned anything other than Naboo? I would think so, since it came out long before the PT was announced.

I think that's what they explained it as.
Fragment of the Lord of Nightmares, release thy heavenly retribution. Blade of cold, black nothingness: become my power, become my body. Together, let us walk the path of destruction and smash even the souls of the Gods! RAGNA BLADE!

Not necessarily, latest Republic comics have the Seperatists with thier own cloning scheme going on.Lord Pounder wrote:In TTT Mara makes a comment about "cold faced Clones" trying to take over, Pellaeon also makes comments about the "Fleet" fighting clones.

The whole idea and portrayal of the Empire as aeons-old and the Jedi wiped out over centuries of oppression is pretty much gone. Maybe it was never portrayed in that way, but I doubt anyone ever envisioned the transition between Old Republic and Empire as taking place in only a few days, and the Empire existing for only Eighteen damn years before ANH.

Um, it was never really there in the first place.

It's not that hard to imagine. Anakin/Vader looks old, Palpatine looks old. Everything in the galaxy looks "worn" and "battered" like it's really old. Obi-Wan and Yoda are old. Obi-Wan speaks about the "Old" Republic as if it were a long bygone era (before the Dark Times, etc). People like Han Solo and Admiral Motti who are in their 30's or so act like they've never seen Jedi before... like they're just forgotten legends.
So the notion of an old Empire seems like a natural enough vibe to get without all the baggage that comes later to explain it. And the Clone thing, we just kind of get hints from the EU, but the vibe we get is that the clones were the threat (well they were, just not in the way we imagined), not the tools used to fight the threat.

IIRC, the retcon to Leia being 20 years old and Luke being 18 in the action figures sold back in the early 80s, by making Leia the older twin, is now definitely out of whack.
