It was okay ... I hesitate in suggesting novels, simply because writer's writting style does play a major role. I actually really liked it, but I found some parts snooze fests (anything that shifted the focus away from Obi-Wan/Anakin, especially when we went to Coruscant politics and Padme) - but those 'scenes' were few and far between.Durandal wrote:Labrynth of Evil sounds like a good detective story. How was it, Crown? Should I pick it up?
It reads like RotS plays really, each chapter is sort of like a 'scene' and it shifts back and forth between them. And of course some 'chapters' are really short (like one or two pages)
I really liked the Obi-Wan/Anakin relationship though, I thought that was right on the money, it had a bit of humour, lots of Jedi kick-ass action, infantry fighting (descriptive), the detective story was good, but in a machavellian sense since Sidious knew what they were up to (hint, hint), and of course since this leads directly (think hours) into RotS there are only small suprises.
I'd say yes, but ask Lord Poe as well as I know he's read it (he started a thread on it), also look for a thread I started about Prequel era EU books - this is why I picked up the book it was highly recommended by posters - and see what other people had to say to be sure.
If in doubt, the paperback couldn't be too far away.
I hope that helped at all.
EDIT :: Here is the thread I started on prequel books.

You know, if he had been cornered in a court of law, Palpatine could claim that the Separatists were going to war anyway (in fact, this must have been the case; if there was no pre-existing intention to engage in hostilities and no pre-existing grievance, then nothing one man said would have ever convinced these people to engage in a full-blown war), and that he was trying to manipulate them in ways that would lead to their defeat.
After all, every piece of advice he ever gave the Trade Federation or the Separatists in general turned out disastrously for them.

Out of curiousity which court would have durisdiction in this case? Would it be a civilian court or a military tribunal?Darth Wong wrote:You know, if he had been cornered in a court of law, Palpatine could claim that the Separatists were going to war anyway (in fact, this must have been the case; if there was no pre-existing intention to engage in hostilities and no pre-existing grievance, then nothing one man said would have ever convinced these people to engage in a full-blown war), and that he was trying to manipulate them in ways that would lead to their defeat.

Also Lucas likes close up's especially of main character's at the start of each scene.
So either bring a pic and make me shut up or do not and face spamblivion!

Dooku definitely told Obi-Wan that "the Senate is now under the control of a Dark Lord of the Sith named Darth Sidious."

Well what's even more of an interesting question is would he be judged by a jury of his peers? And exactly who would be a Sith Lord's 'peer' anyway?Glimmervoid wrote:Out of curiousity which court would have durisdiction in this case? Would it be a civilian court or a military tribunal?
The kind of court were there is a Jedi with a lightsaber behind the judge.
I have an interesting question. Is being a Sith a crime in starwars.
And in breaking Holonet News; Twelve Jedi in the jury delivered their verdict to the Judiciary Department - of whom they have a somewhat superior relationship with - and then proceeded to chop up the ex-Chancellor.

I didn't have much of a problem with the fall scene. I like DW's suggestions for changes, but otherwise leave it as is. I went into some detail to work out why some of that stuff happened in my contribution to the "ROTS Cues for Main Site" thread and also in the "Killing Younglings" thread, and it doesn't really need that much tinkering.

I second that. Plus Noticed that he was crying in that scene. I think that many of you forget that Anakin/Vader's fall to the Darkside also has a lot to do with his self-evaluation/Hatred of Himself.Stravo wrote:I agree with Gandalf. Mustafar was the first place that he could stop and think about what he's done. And it all came down on him and he realized all that he had done in such a short amount of time. I loved that scene. It crystallized that he was nto just a robot, not a mindless killer. A part of him was horrified by what he had done.Gandalf wrote:I saw it as the moment when the reality of the situation really dawned on him. So it wasn't just tears for the Seperatists, but for pretty much everyone he'd screwed over.Trooper TK12746 wrote:He butchered younglings by the dozen without a blink of an eye and then he cries over some Seperatist leaders?
