Tales of the Bounty Hunters... thoughts?

Just read Boba Fett’s story. It reminded me a lot like those Discworld tales when Death takes a holiday and all that. It’s strange hearing about Fett being a fading, yet sinister character, and he comes along as quite human. I really liked the last scene, pity it’s a continuity problem that’s never answered.
I’m not sure if I like the author’s version of Fett, though. He’s against addictive drugs, premarital marriage, and supports the Empire because he believes they are morally good. WTF? He also values his chastity (virginity) as a strength, which would be considered funny to some people. I don’t know about it being a strength, but I guess he’s like a lawful-evil monk, except without the religion. I’ve never thought of him as a rascally rogue, or as a hard-drinking cutthroat, but a lawful-evil monk? And the whole beginning sequence makes no sense considering what AOTC has revealed about his origins.
Thoughts?
Also, I’m still unsure if the Bounty Hunters War is worth the time. I heard it was crappily written. I’m still pissed that 4-Lom never becomes the first Force-using droid. That would be really, really interesting. He and Zuckuss seemed to be the most affable characters.
Quick question: is the EU over with the Unifying Force?

Correct. Thrawn even states that Kast got "unlucky".

And the dark nest trilogy that comes after Unifyinf force, the first book of which will be released this summer, and then a seven-book series set after that. Not to mention the dozen or so planned books set between ROTS and ANH, along with a few more clone wars books and some pre-PT ones.Crazedwraith wrote:You mean the post OT EU? Not by a long shot. The Bounty Hunter Wars are decent books. A little too detail-oriented (as someone stated), but still decent books. Not my favs, but they focus alot on one of my fav characters, that being Mr. Fett. Of course, this Fett isn't the hard-ass, in-it-for-himself bounty hunter that we're used to. He's portrayed as having more of a moral agenda than I think is really conceivable.
Why is this so inconvieable? Aside from the coolness aspect everyone sees in him, whats to prevent him from being the moral psudo-vigilante that is seen in much of the EU material. Nothing in any of the movies tells us otherwise (aside from the fact that Fett might be a bit prone to over kill when hbe does choose a target.)Vicious wrote:The Bounty Hunter Wars are decent books. I beleive the OT VD stated that Fett lived by his own honour code and only took jobs that agreed with said code.Pure Sabacc wrote:

He has his own code, but it seems too played up in these books. He has a set of rules, but he also is an amoral bastard, since he'll take just about any contract, short of massacring women and children. Pursuing essentially innocent men doesn't bother him, nor does hunting down Rebels even though they are definitely on the moral high ground compared with the Empire. He doesn't support the Empire because he believes they're moral. He's pro-Empire because they bring stability and a steady source of jobs. He says this in the Han Solo trilogy, IIRC.
Nobody was arguing that he was a saint, just that he's a bit above the average thuggish or blood-lust bounty hunter.Vicious wrote:He has his own code, but it seems too played up in these books. Actually, with the new continuity of the movies, it makes sense that he'd hate the Republic, because it (rather, the Jedi) killed his dear old daddoo. Anything that succeeded it would be preferable. It makes sense that he'd support the Empire if he shares the genes with the army that helped found it.

Oh, I'm not entirely sure, but I believe one of them is going to be set in the KOTOR era. There not going to be released for a while though.the .303 bookworm wrote:I think he means the pre-pt booksPure Sabacc wrote:Um, upcoming EU books. What are those?

Well, Fett's tale does have at least the inconsistency when he tells Leia that he doesn't believe in the Force. However, seeing as how he's known Vader during the OT movie period, he's probably lying.
It's weird how the New Republic legalizes spice, yet Fett condemns it as being a gateway drug. I'm really confused with this portrayal of him.
