Spider update.

Post by weemadando »

Some weeks ago as some may remember I had a problem with a red back.

Well, last night I saw something on TV that really explains it all. The Glass House, an Aussie satire/comedy panel show was talking about spiders, and how, in most nations people go: "Oh its a spider, lets just get some newspaper and put it outside." While in Australia people go: "Dear GOD! A Spider! GET THE SHOTGUN!" One of the regulars replies: "Thats because in most places the worst a spider will do is just come up and hug you. In Australia they're stockpiling weapons of mass destruction."

In other news. The redback is still at large. However several others of its kind have met the blunt end of a political science textbook. I'm thinking that if I ever do find that fucking spider its going to be in the form of a made for TV docudrama about its great escape.

Till next time, this is Anders Russell, for Fucked Up News...

Oh, wait--so, you're still alive?

Shit.

  :D

Seriously, though, that's a bit scary. I don't mind the cuddly, huggable spiders we have here in the U.S. because I'm a tough chick. ("just come up and hug you?!" WTF? Yeah right! Ick).

Why don't you devise a plan to trap him? If you think he's still in your place, that is. Find out what the redback likes (other than you), lure him out of hiding and then tear him apart, or trap him in a glass, or something. No?

did i mention i HATE SPIDERS!?!?! and on the subject of textbooks, i will never forget (or forgive the guy who did it) the time a classmate flicked a spider into my textbook. the desk went flying in one way, the book went thru the ceiling tile, me in the roller chair thing went flying back against the wall and i obviously fell off, and the backpack ended up some 10 feet away in yet another direction... NOT fun... that one pretty much (near literal) scared the piss out of me.

We're in the process of moving waayy out in the middle of nowhere. In the Sonoran Desert. I was out there doing some work today, and noticed some very suspicious looking spider webs. Yeah, they were Black Widows. Notice I said were Black Widows. :D That place is getting bug-bombed to hell and back before I move in.
Also on the eight-legged topic, I was under the impression that Arizona is free of Brown Recluse spiders. It is, but, their cousin, the Arizona Brown Spider is a thriving resident. Last night on the news, there was a story about a 13 year old girl that was putting on some clothes that had been in her closet for a while and got bit. She's recieving skin grafts on her leg now.

As I said in your original thread a while back, it's only a matter of time untill some idiot does the same here. The Sydney Funnel Web is nature's most horrid creature. Well, those and Naked Mole Rats. Blechh!

A shotgun with the right load would be effective against spiders, and anything behind or under them.

Don't get me started on spiders. If there's any animal that LOOKS evil, it's the spider.

I am however quite fond of snakes. They're not scary.

Sydney Funnel Webs can bite through boot leather, luckily, I have no intention of visiting that part of the world. Although, ever try stomping a Tarantula? They stick out on either side of your foot. *shudders*

Sooo... you stomp them before they bite you.
Though if I were in that position I'd grab a textbook and administer A-level integration upon its sorry ass.

One time I found a .8 cm long spider in my bed. Eventually got it out, isolated it, and caught it with a tissue. Then it went down the toilet.
What's her bust size!?

It's over NINE THOUSAAAAAAAAAAND!!!!!!!!!

Spiders? Those tiny smalish little things? The joy of my childhood (I loved to feed them with hand caught flies)? Oh, yours are big and poisonous.

We don't have any or those. Nor snakes, nor anything threathning to human health. Only the ocasional wolf in the remote parts of the country, and they are the ones who get scared.

Tough luck.

I would just like to pint out that fucking big poisonous spiders are not a serious NZ problem, allthough we have Katapo's {a red back variety, and not overly a menace}and white tail which is minor irratant. none are aggresive.
So I will now say, that your spider issue is gods punishment for shagging your sister

What's realy not funny is that despite the fact that I inherited a slight case of arachnophobia from my mother part of me actually would like a sydney funnel web for a pet. Mabye it's one of those "face your fears" things.
