There is no 7800 Ultra

Post by Hamel »

Q: Is there a GeForce 7800 Ultra?
GeForce 7800 GTX is our top of the line. We had so much positive response for the GT SKU (single slot, great performance) that we wanted to build upon that success and brand. GeForce 7800 GTX takes NVIDIA's high end performance offering to the next level.
NV FAQ

That's at least part of the justification for pricing this card at $600 - it's their top dog. Does that mean the GT and Vanilla will go for 500 and 400 dollars, respectfully?
"Right now we can tell you a report was filed by the family of a 12 year old boy yesterday afternoon alleging Mr. Michael Jackson of criminal activity. A search warrant has been filed and that search is currently taking place. Mr. Jackson has not been charged with any crime. We cannot specifically address the content of the police report as it is confidential information at the present time, however, we can confirm that Mr. Jackson forced the boy to listen to the Howard Stern show and watch the movie Private Parts over and over again."

389$ roughly for a 6800GT, I don't think its going to drop unless nVidia announces a 7xxx in the 400$ price.

Where are you getting your prices? Newegg has PCI-Express 6800GTs for ~$350, and as low as under $300 on the AGP models.

I sure hope nVidia sticks with their trend, set by the 6xxx series, of offering mid- and low-end cards with the same feature set, instead of offering last-gen GPU's re-labeled.

Can't wait to see what the 7600 brings to the table.
